In the darkness of the moon
-
...Her breath puffed out in front of her, visible by the frigid temperature currently nipping at her bare skin. The only sounds in the night was her ragged breathing and thumping footsteps. She timed her footsteps with that of her rapidly beating heart.
Thump
Step.
Thump
Step.
The quicker her heart raced, the faster her legs ran until they were just a blur underneath her flying body. For that's what she felt like she was doing; flying. But when one flies, there isn't homicidal psychopath following right behind you. Once again, the image of the terror she had just witnessed flashed in her mind's eye.
She felt the need to fall to her knees and remind herself what she had for lunch, but pushed the bile down and ran faster. If he caught her....If that psycho caught her...She couldn't even finish that thought.
"Oh Lydia..." A crazed laughter followed the taunting voice. "Where are you going, my dear Lydia?" On the edge of her hearing, Lydia heard the soft, flitting sounds of Jahal following. Terror swept through Lydia for the hundredth time that day, it seemed. She pushed her feet forward, her snow-white hair flying out beneath her. But to no avail, for the steps kept creeping closer and closer. "Where are you going? We haven't finished playing our game yet!"
Her ivory tresses were suddenly snagged by a powerful grip. A cry of pain and fear broke from her mouth before she was yanked backwards by her hair, until her golden eyes met his insane sapphire ones. A sick, twisted grin was set onto his lips, those lips she had daydreamed of kissing so many times now. "Aw, don't you want to play with me anymore?" He taunted, pulling her back until her porcelain neck was exposed. A shudder involuntarily ripped itself down her spine as his tongue met her cool skin, precisely over the main vein. "I always enjoy playing with my prey first before I eat you..." He mused mockingly, his eyes crazed and thoughtful.
Hope burst into her chest.l Would he give her a chance to escape again? They both knew, no matter how hard she ran, he would always find her. It was the same game of cat-and-mouse that he's been playing with her for the past five years. But that hope was smothered with he shook his head and 'tsk'ed himself, his wild red hair flinging itself everywhere. "Sadly, I actually grow bored of this game." He sighed, as if he were truly bored. "It's time I found myself a new playmate, don't you think?" He opened his mouth a bit, exposing the ivory fangs he would use to end her life.
"No, I think I'll kill you right here."
