Fatuous is the only word that can describe the insanity and stupidity in to which this world has come. Fifty years ago scientists predicted, no practically promised, that in the near future we would be colonizing mars, we would understand so much more, and be on our way to greatness and scientific immortality. At the same time radicals and instigators predicted the world would end tomorrow. Funny thing is, the instigators seem to have ended up hitting the mark closer than the futurists. Now is the year 2060, and the only thing we have advanced in is entertainment. Better theaters, better games, better computers, better phones, everything but what society needed. We never got around to creating alternative fuel for cars, and we just gave up on the idea of fighting off global warming. Instead we have embraced global warming; it doesn’t matter as long as we can play our games. The world was at the peak of destruction, and then some other genius went into office. To fix all the problems he decided to get rid of them. Cars have been made illegal, and instead people forced to ride the train. He had the idea to solve all problems by getting rid of the problem. It worked, but not in our favor exactly. We’ve basically been brought down a notch, and we’re still at the same point that we where fifty years ago. One problem that was still left though caused there to be a massive revolt against the government. The president had put out the idea to end over population. How, you may ask? Once a month, anyone can kill one person they desire - legally. Have an annoying intern, kill them, teacher gave you a bad grade, kill them, you can kill anyone except the military officials and the president. After a few years of rebelling, the masses accepted this idea full heartedly. Either the president was a really good talker, or everyone was brainwashed. When the president spoke only one sentence, the whole world seemed to turn in his favor. “We humans say we are above animals, but we are still animals, and animals kill other animals, so killing each other is natural and normal!” I felt that I was the only one not to believe this bull. Once the law was passed I vowed not to kill anyone; however I found myself to be a hypocrite.
I quickly jumped into the train barely making it into my seat before the train began moving. I took a seat on the mucky leather seats of the train, which was covered in soot from head to toe. I began to relax, peace at mind that I would make it to my work on time. All was good and well until a man decided to sit next to me. This man wasn’t any ordinary man that you didn’t pay attention to. This man made a spectacle of himself by blowing lime colored mucus all about the train. I sat next this man who had no sense of etiquette, and let algae-green ice sickles run out of his nose. After an hour of this torture I had had enough. I calmly and sensibly asked man to cease his grotesque spectacle, however all he did was look into my eyes and begin to ruffle his hands in his pockets. Fear took over, and with no idea weither he was looking for a weapon , or keeping his hands warm; and I grabbed the gun out of my pocket, which I had for my protection, and shot him point blank range right between the eyes. I was covered in mucus and blood, and I felt empty and miserable. I wanted to run, I wanted to scream! I looked around desperately for something to throw up in. My mind was spacey, and I felt an unreal sense of nothingness. It was beginning to be too much to bear, and that’s when I heard…everyone was clapping…

- Title: World Of Funerals
- Artist: Solaris lux
- Description: This story takes place in the near future in which murder and death is accepted, and even encouraged in society. To tell you the truth I don't believe there is any chance of this happening, but it makes for a great story topic.
