It's night time, and you're hanging around in your room, bored off your a**. Your mind is preoccupied with that day's, and the coming days, events. So when your cell suddenly rings, you fall clear off your bed and land right on your side, causing you to omit a loud squeak of both surprise and pain. Irritated that they, whoever it was, disturbed your peace, you yank the cell from your desk. Without looking at the caller id, you snap your phone open. "What!" You bark into the mouth piece.
At first, silence is on the other line. Your irritatedness escalates further the more the silence stretches. You're about to hang up, when a trembling voice says on the other line, "Um...Maybe I should call again later..."
Recognizing it as your friend/crush, Tree, a blush makes it's way to your face, painting it a rosy color. It's at that point you are VERY glad phones are only audio instead of visual.
"No, no..." YOu said quickly, sensing he was about to hang up. "I'm fine, sorry." You threw yourself onto the bed, ignoring the small bounce afterword. "Did you want something?"
A small bit of static on the phone, and you can see in your mind's eye Tree shrugging. "I'm bored, you're bored, so I called."
A grin tugged at your mouth, thinking out your response to that. "How did you know I was bored? Are you stalking me?" You turned and narrowed your eyes at the window, as if you really did expect his face to be pressed against the glass.
Another shrug on the other end. "You're always bored. What would make this night any different?"
You didn't answer to that immediately, caught on his answer for a bit. Finally, you shrugged yourself. "Good point. Continue."
A soft chuckle from him made your grin widen. You loved his laugh, so you made it a daily goal to make him laugh, either at you or with you. "Want to meet up somewhere? I just finished writing a song that you may like."
This made you curious. You never thought of him as the creative type...But he doesn't know that, so why tell him? "Sure." You responded, shock at the request making your voice a bit higher than usual.
You could hear both the smile and relief in his voice now. "Great. Meet me at the park entrance in about...20 minutes?" He hung up before you could answer.
It was a mixture of shock, suprise, and joy that brought the loud squeal forward from you. You bounced on your bed a few times in exultation before launching yourself at your closet., fantasies about what would happen keeping you from truly thinking straight as you pulled on the first thing you thought would catch his eye.
You sped from your room and house too quickly for anyone in your family to question where you were going. It took only about ten minutes instead of the usual fifteen to get the park, such the speed you were going.
When you got to the entrance of the park, you had to continually shuffle your feet to keep warm. Why hadn't you noticed how cold it was? You knew the answer, but you didn't really want to admit it.
Someone to your left cleared their throats, and you whipped around, a familiar grin already stretching across your face. There he stood, the beam from the full moon making his blonde hair almost seem silver. His blue eyes glowed as he looked at you. You contributed that to the moonlight as well. Why would he be that happy to see you?
But the thing that caught your attention most was the guitar on his back. This time, you couldn't keep the words from spilling out of your mouth. "I didn't know you played guitar."
His shrug was enough to calm your nerves about him being angry at your almost accusation. "Good, then the 'keep people from knowing' ploy is working." He turned his back on you, gesturing for you to follow him through the forest. "Come on, I found this awesome spot when I was hear before."
You followed him through the thick tree trunks without a protest or worry. You trusted him enough to know where he was going. Perhaps that wasn't a good idea, since in five minutes you found yourself back at the entrance. You looked at Tree with a teasing grin. "You have no idea where you're going, do you?"
His glare was enough to make you shut up. An angry Tree was not a fun Tree, and you liked the Fun Tree much better than the Angry Tree. He turned back into the woods, taking a different path now. "We'll be there in ten minutes tops."
He said that each of the five times you were back at the entrance. Each time you saw the bronze gates and steel fence, your annoyance at him grew. The sixth time you saw the gates, you growled fiercely. "If you lead me in circles the entire night, I will strangle you."
Both of you knew you would never go through with that, so he just shrugged off your threat and took the final unexplored trial. This time, you didn't go back to the entrance. The journey was much longer this time around, and your annoyance at him faded as the air got colder. 'We must be going up.' The scientific side of you said. That was the only explanation you could think of why it would get this cold this quickly.
Your shivering brought his attention away from the dirt and back to you. "Cold?" He asked, concern in his voice. Your glare was much more frigid than the air on your exposed skin. Tree stopped for a moment before putting his guitar down. He took off his sweater, exposing the muscle shirt his wore underneath. You were thankful for the darkness now, because it hid your violent blush.
He slipped his sweater over your shoulders, his finger-tips ghosting over your skin. The inside of it was still warm from his body-heat, and you thankfully snuggled into it, ignoring the way his touch made your skin tingle and turn to fire. "Thanks." You muttered to him, looking away.
His fingers lingered on your neck, far longer than actually required. You hadn't noticed how close he had gotten until his hot breath was suddenly close to your ear. "You're welcome."
Tree pulled back, a tiny smirk gracing his lips as he turned back to pick up his guitar. Your body relaxed from the stiffened position the sudden closeness had caushed, and you had to stay put to make your breathing even again. 'WHAT WAS THAT!!!' You wanted to screeech at him, but held your tongue. You admitted to yourself you liked the close proximity, so why ruin the moment?
