•                            Chapter One: Stopped & Stuck

Silence...that was all she heard...she opened her eyes slowly trying to focus in on the darkness that surrounded her. She never liked the dark she was always afraid and even now she felt like screaming for help because she was afraid at what was hiding...at what was watching her. She tried sitting up but then she couldn't she tugged harder and harder at the restraints but couldn't make them move then she saw a light flip on and she closed her eyes. She finally opened them but a little faster this time to see who was in the room with her when she looked she saw a little old nurse standing beside her bed. The woman looked like she was in her middle sixties and she had gray hair which was up in a bun and little dimples on her face.  She wan't tall either she only looked about four foot eight. And then she spoke with a clear voice that she herslf didn't look like she would have managed.
"Why hello child." She patt one hand one the bed and smiled as she sat down in the chair that was next to her.
"Who are you?...and where am I?." Rose looked at her with a weird glance.
    "I'm your nurse Rose...Your in a St. Mary's Hospital."
    "St. Mary's hospital...I'm not Catholic."
"Well that's quite alright we don't turn away any person...What's your name dear?."
"Adara...if you don't turn people away then why do you restrain someone to their beds and put them in the dark?."
"Oh sorry dear you were just...hard to help...I mean you kicked and scratched everyone...you punched our head doctor and hit one of our sisters in their gut...this was the only way to keep you from hurting others...and yourself." adara looked at her confused then remembered why she could've said that. Adara glanced at her left wrist then her right.
"When did you do that to yourself dear?...it couldn't of been that bad." Adara looked at the deep cuts on her wrists and remembered when she had done them.
"About nine months ago...my family they...they were found dead...murdered. But I did this way before that...my sister was the one to save me her name was Ann...my parents adored her my mom mostly one night I asked my mom how she was she said leave me alone go run to your father he's the one that cares for you not me and I said fine and I ran up to my room and took almost half a bottle of pills and well you see...I meant to do it but my sister saved my life and my mom she was worried and spent a lot more time with me."
"Well Adara...God will help you find your way."
"Yes he will...can you please take these off?."
"Oh yes of course." Rose removed the straps on Adara's wrists and ankles and went out to get her some water.
    "Here you go dear."
    "Thanks...hmm...is it Holy water?."
    "Is that a joke Adara?."
    "Well kind of."
"Well it is kind of Holy water." Adara smiled as she drank the water. She was tired and Rose noticed.
"Why don't I let you get some sleep...I'll turn off the lights and-"
"NO!...you can't put me in the dark...I won't let you."
"Oh...alright dear don't worry I'll leave the lights on."
    "Sorry I just can't stand the dark...it scares me...it's a terrible phobia."
    "Alright goodnight child."
"Goodnight Rose." Adara lay on her side which had the most light shining to her. Later that night....She woke up to a sound...a fizz shock sound. She opened her eyes and saw something standing in the hallway just out of reach of the light. It whispered to her..."Adara come here...come join us...come to the dark...have a last goodnight with us." More cold chilling voices joined in. Then the light in her room started flickering...Adara closed her eyes and went still. "They can't get you...they can't get you...they can't come into the light...your untouchable as long as you stay in the light." She opened her eyes and saw that her light was out and the thing in the hallway was standing right beside her bed.
"Come with me Adara...we won't hurt you...we want you to join us...your the chosen one...come with us."
"No...you can't touch me this is a place of God...your not supposed to be able to come in here."
"We are not demons Adara...we are not your demons...we are your protectors."
"Protecters right your protecters and I'm a queen."
    "You could be Adara."
"No your a demon just like the rest of them."
"Oh Adara...I'm so sorry for this." She opened her eyes wider and tried to get up but  two other figures held her arms down while two others held her legs down. While the first one put blood red liquid into the cup and forced it down her throat. She tried to scream but it was no use...as soon as she was finished with the last drop she passed out. Now she had been stopped and stuck.

    Chapter 2: Pain

She shot up screaming in her bed. Rose and another woman ran in.
"Adara what is it?." She couldn't respond she looked at the table with the cup...it had red resude...what was it they gave me she wondered."I had a nightmare sorry to scare you."
"That's alright dear we have got you some new clothes so we'll leave you alone to change."
"Alright." As soon as Rose and the other woman left Adara got out of bed and looked at her wrist...there was impressions on them.
"Hands...cold hands." She whispered. Then she heard something in her head.
"Adara your with us now...maybe not willingly...but you will soon."She grabbed the side of her head with both hands. "No you can't be inside my head no you can't."
"But we are...Aiden wanted to be so he is...the leader wants you to join us."
"Aiden...no not him anyone but him." She was getting upset now she was starting to cry. "Yes Adara just don't fight it he will be angry with us but it won't matter after he figures out why we needed him."
"Needed him for what...what did you give me?".
"The blood of life Adara...his...and I'm so sorry that this is going to hurt you...because it did us all...when we first turned...so now you should know."
    "What?."
"Your bonded with him...your his now." She lost her breath then and froze then she heard a snap and then nothing. She whispered hello but no one answered then she walked over to the desk where some water was in a jug and she got a plastic cup and poured her some water in it and when she felt the cup against her lips she got a chill up her spine as she heard someone take a breath. As she took a sip...she felt like she got choked...her throat felt like it had closed and she dropped the cup. Water went everywhere and she saw that it wasn't clear water anymore...she remembered that while the cup was falling that she saw it morph from clear...to red. Then she looked to the floor and then she smelled it...the blood. Her throat relaxed but then she felt a pain in her stomache. She tried to ignore it but it wouldn't go away. Then she felt pain in both of her temples. She grabbed the side of her head and it brought her to her knees. "Oh no...Bloodlust uh." She whispered as she smelled the blood again it cut through her senses...like an electric shock all over. It made her want to grab what was on the floor and taste it...just once was all she needed. She looked into the long mirror on the wall and saw her eyes...a darker brown...with gold in them...but then she saw them turn black...black as coal. Then she heard someone walk into the room. But before she heard her...she smelled her. Rose walked to her a little faster than usual.
    "Adara are you alright?."
    "Yes I'm fine...I think...just still tired."
"Then let me help you dear."
"Alright." Rose helped her to the bed and then saw the water on the floor. "What happened here dear?."
"I...well I poured me some water and then dropped it...I guess I was still half asleep...so sorry about the dropping the blo...I mean water."
"It's fine dear...I'll get this cleaned up while you get some rest."
"Alright...thank you Rose." Rose cleaned up the water and left Adara alone. Adara was still hurting...in her head...all over her body...everywhere. She had cried herslef to sleep and seven hours later she awoke to something cold touching her hand. She opened her eyes and saw what it was.
"Adara...I had no idea that they were going to do that to you...please forgive me."
"Aiden...what's happened to me...I feel terrible pain...and I'm thirsty...my thirst is for blood isn't it?."
"Yes...it is. Adara...they gave you blood...my blood...and your only half of what I am...so I think you might be able to be back to human instead of being a vampire like me."
    "You think...but you don't know..."
"Yes I do my love...I do."
    "Aiden...how could that be?."
"No one bit you when they gave you the blood."
"Of course not..I've never been bitten before."
"Well once...I'd be sure you wouldn't even forget that."
"No I haven't".Adara would never forget when she was bitten. When she found out what Aiden was. She remembered that her parents were out to dinner and Aiden came to her house. He had a big deep gash on his right side of his stomache. She had been trying to get him to the hospital that was the time she felt his skin he had always worn gloves and long sleeve shirts around her whe she touched him he was ice cold. He then told her and showed her what he was she always liked the idea of vampires in the movies but she never thought that they would really exsist. She then remembered how he told her and what he asked her.
"Adara look at me I am a vampire...and I'm dieng...I'll understand if you don't want to help me but I think you know what I need."
    "Blood."
"Yes and I'm not going to beg either so-."
    "Yes."
    "What?."
"Aiden I'm not going to let you die just take what you need...we'll talk later."
    "Your really sure about this?."
"Just do it."Then she remembered her handing him her wrist and him saying her name aginst her skin then him biting down. She had gasped when he bit down but it felt like getting shocked by a door handle but much more intense. While he was drinking her blood she looked at the big gash on him and watched as it slowly healed. Sowing his skin together but without the needle and thread. He had lived that night because of her. He even swore to protect her from anything that had tried to hurt her and he had kept that promise. She suddenly realized that she had been dreaming her memories. She had fallen back asleep again. When she looked around Aiden was still sitting next to her. But he was looking out of the window.

    Chapter 3: Listen

Aiden stood up and walked over to the window. Adara leaned up and tried getting out of bed when she stood up she had to steady herself before she was able to walk. He turned around and she was right behind him when he did she almost fell over but he caught her.
    "Adara what are doing?."
    "Standing."
"You need to lay back down."
    "I don't want to."
    "Your stuborn."
"I know." He rolled his eyes and faced the window again. The stars were bright and it was also raining."Aiden...it wasn't your fault."
"Yes it is...they knew that I had a connection to you a strong connection...and for some reason they are calling me leader...which I'm not...I'm not even the first."
"You couldn't of known what they were going to do."
"I should've known though...but I'm gonna fix this your not gonna get one drop of blood and no one not even me is going to bite you."
"Aiden if you get hurt and you need blood I'm-."
"NO! Listen Adara I'm not gonna do that...I'll just deal with it get blood from a cat or something."
"Aiden! I won't let you die...if you get hurt your gonna need human blood. And not any normal person will let you suck their blood from their wrist like me."
"I shouldn't of done that either."
"What are you talking about...if you didn't you would have died I wouldn't of forgotten that...and-."
"That's the point...you see when you wanted to take me to the hospital before I told you they would've found no heart beat...and your going to listen to me...because if I hadn't come to you...you wouldn't be in this mess right now."
"I'm not gonna listen to this anymore." She turned to walk away but he grabbed her wrist ironicly the one he bit to drink from her. He pulled her into a tight hug that she couldn't get away from even if she tried or wanted to.
"I'm not gonna loose you...not to death or even not to me."
    "Me neither."
"Adara please...I've been able to say no to your blood over and over again since that night but if you say...you don't care if I do then...I might slip on accident and then you can't be normal again."
    "I was never normal Aiden."
"Just Listen to me for now and get some more sleep please."
    "I'm not tired."
"Fine."He quickly kissed her and made her lay down on the bed and he made her dizzy whenever he moved so fast. He did all of that faster then she could blink. "It helps if you close your eyes again."
    "And what if I don't."
"Then I will just have to do it again."
    "No...alright fine."
"Alright...get some rest your so tired...I can hear your pulse...it's slowing which means your exsausted...goodnight my love...I'll keep watch over you while you sleep."He kissed her again a little bit longer and she closed her eyes letting him win again. She couldn't help if he had ever needed blood again she'd help him. He knew it but he fought it he tried to so many times. But she knew that her scent and since he already had tasted her blood that it was hard for him. He loved her to much to even save himself with her blood not wanting to make her a creature of the night. But the bloodlust that was rising in him for her blood seemed to torment him she knew that to.  He loved her so much that he would die before he would bite her again...and that hurt her and that was what he knew.
When Adara woke up she looked around the room. A light was on. She sat up and noticed that the door to her room was shut and then she looked at the chair next to her bed. Aiden was there leaning on the bed asleep. It was natural for a vampire such as Aiden to barily sleep but if they wanted they could. Whenever they wanted. He couldn't go out during the day because it would give him a bad sunburn it wouldn't burst him into flames but it would still hurt. Adara touched his shoulder and his eyes opened. He stood up the chair falling back and looked around smelling the air, looking for a threat. "Aiden calm down it was just me."
"I know...I decided to relax guess I can't to up tight." She got out of bed and walked to the window. "It's daylight. Hm."
    "What is it?"
    "Nothing important."
"With you it is important." She glanced at him then saw his eyes were a dark blue. "Your thristy Aiden." He looked down and away. She walked over to him and touched his hand. "Not really."
    "You need to go?"
"No." She saw him eye her neck. Her hair was away and she knew he could hear her pulse with each beat. She saw him glance down then back at her neck again. Yes he was thirsty...badly. He turned towards her and then bent down towards her neck. She felt his breath. "Yeah I guess I do need to go."
"But you can't now...not until nightfall."
"That's just great." He licked his lips and pulled away. He walked over to one side of the room while Adara went and looked back out of the window. A couple hours later it was staring to get dark. "Aiden I think you can go now."
    "But-"
"I'll be fine. Besides can you be around me if your get really thirsty?"
"I'm past that...no I can't I'll be back soon." He would've usually hugged her before he left but not this time it was too dangerous. He left and Adara sat on the bed and started watching TV. It usually took an hour or two before he came back, she would be fine she thought. A knock on the door interupted her thoughts. She turned off the TV and got out of bed and went to answer the door. She saw someone she didn't know. His eyes were crystal blue and he had black hair. She then recognized the pale skin but tried to keep herself calm. "Yes?"
    "Can I come in?"
    "Do you need help?"
"Yes." Adara had the door opened wide enough and she stepped back. She didn't want to tip him off that she knew what he was. But little did she know he knew all about her. Her knowing, Aiden, everything. "So um what do you need help with?"
    "Blood."
"Hm...blood well I guess a hospital is what you are at so your here at the right place."
    "Yes I am Adara."
"Mmhmm." She felt the room get cold and she went and was looking for her jacket. "I am Ian."
"Nice to meet you." She was still looking then felt something on her back she looked and saw the vampire named Ian ptting a jacket over her shoulders. "Thank you."
"Your welcome tell me where's Aiden?"
    "Um...he was hungry."
"Ah yes. Please sit." She shook her head yes and sat down in the chair. "I know what's wrong here."
    "You do?"
"Yes some other vampires gave you Aiden's blood...well I can fix that."
    "You can?"
    "Yes."
    "How?"
"You'll see." Just then Aiden came back and his eyes got wide when he saw Ian there. Aiden walked and was about to get in front of Adara when Ian stood up and pointed towards the ground. Aiden fell to his knees his eyes looking down. Adara stood up and went to Aiden. "Aiden what's wrong?"
"Nothing is wrong with him my dear...he just can't be all defensive when the first is in the room." Adara looked at Ian and then realized why it had gotten so cold why he knew about her, then why he hadn't tried to attack her or do anything...the lead vampire kept under control. "You can stand up now Aiden." Aiden got up slowly. Adara saw his eyes were not crystal blue they were light blue. "You didn't get enough."
"I got worried." She shook her head then Aiden faced Ian. "I heard that you could help her."
"Yes." Ian pulled out a needle and a vile. "What is that?"
"Poision...the only thing that can get rid off vampires blood in your system Adara."
    "But won't it kill me?"
"No...just the blood...shall I do it or you Aiden, after all it was your blood."
    "What else do you want?"
    "A taste of her blood."
    "NO!"
"That's my agreement take it or leave it."
"Aiden let's talk." Adara and Aiden walked a couple steps back and Aiden was angry. "Maybe we should listen to him."
"Adara he wants to drink your blood and that would let him control you."
"I don't want vampire blood turning me."
    "Good."
    "Yet."
    "What?"
    "I'm not ready yet."
"Your not going to be ready ever."
    "Yes I am...please?"
    "Adara-"
"Aiden it could help...lets just try it."
"Fine." They walked back over to Ian and Adara sat in the chair and held out her arm. "Good. Aiden go hunt."
    "I want to be here."
"I know but I said Go Hunt." aiden had to listen but he looked at Adara. "I'll be fine...go." He left but stayed close. She felt the needle on her arm then she closed her eyes. "Done."
    "That was fast."
"Yes it was stand up." She did as he said and felt his cold hands on her arm. "Your turn." She nodded and moved her hair away from the right side off her neck and turned her head a little. She saw Ian's teeth grow a a bit longer and then saw as he bent towards her neck. She then felt him bite her, she gasped and shut her eyes. Minutes passed and then finally he straightend. "That was good. Aiden you can return now." Aiden came through the door and caught Adara before she fell. "How much did you take?"
"As much as I wanted. I'll be in touch." Ian left and Aiden picked Adara up and layed her down back on the bed. "What did he really want Aiden?"
"I'm not sure love." Aiden sensed eyes watching them and then knew. He wanted to know where Adara was at all times because Ian didn't want to save Adara from becoming a vampire...he wanted her to be a his carrier. Carrier's were either humans or vampires who had certain vampires drink from them to get stronger. Aiden knew that Ian wanted to claim Adara as his carrier. "Just sleep now." Adara closed her eyes and was soon asleep. "No Ian...not her." Aiden's voice was low and held warning. Ian could hear him though. Aiden knew that Ian was listening and watching he also knew if Ian kept drinking from her he'd kill her but Aiden also knew that Ian probably had a plan to change Adara not with Aiden's blood but with his. "If you touch her I'll kill you Ian...I don't care if you are the first vampire...touch her again your dead...and you can't claim her because I already did."
"Is that so? Then I guess you will be a rouge vampire."
"No not if your dead." Aiden shut the door and went to sit in the chair next to Adara. and while she slept he held her hand promising to keep her safe from the lead vampire.
