• The Eve of Eternity: Chapter 7 - Alliance Of Silver

Kaneas lifted Deckard and Estellise up off the ground and began heading off in the distance very quickly. Shortly after he left the scene, a large group of bandits came out of the town to see what had gone on. Kaneas was moving at a very abnormal speed, even for someone using wind magic, and in just a few hours worth of time he had arrived at the capital, Beythemisia. It was now the middle of the morning, and the distance he had travelled seemed like an almost impossible feat. Beythemisia was more than ten times the distance that Deckard and he had traveled from the city nearby Thelmios in order to actually get to Thelmios. The two that he was carrying were still unconscious, and aside from when they were moving while he was carrying them, they hadn’t moved an inch on their own.

Kaneas quickly brought the two of them into a large white mansion, owned by the Caine family. The leader of the Caine family was a man by the name of Firomis, and Kaneas knew him quite well. The two of them had a sort of “alliance” together and Firomis was one of the only people he knew he could trust fully and completely count on. Firomis was an overly kind person, which was extremely rare in a person of his position. In the city of Beythemisia there was a social ranking system, and at the top of that system were two types of people. The royal family, the ones in primary control over the city was the highest ranked people in the city. The royal family itself wasn’t very large, but directly underneath them were the Magistrates. There were 20 Magistrate families in all, and they were given a number and a section of the city in which they were supposed to govern. Many of them were extremely powerful, in terms of money, political power, and even Magic. At the top of the list of Magistrates were three people, the strongest of which was obviously Firomis Caine even though he was only the Magistrate of sector 2. Rita Bridgeport of sector 1 and Celestia Barringer of sector 3 were the other two. The three of them had been friends since they were kids, so they had a pact of friendship and alliance together.

Kaneas managed to sneak into one of the guest bedrooms of the house that had two beds in it. He set Deckard and Estellise down on separate beds and sat down in a chair next to one of the windows, looking outside for a moment. As usual, Firomis was up bright and early and walking around in his garden. “Heh, you never change Firomis.” Kaneas shook his head slowly and returned to watching over the two unconscious people in the beds. There is a sudden knock on the door, followed by the door opening up. “I thought I saw you entering the house.” A man dressed up like a butler said with a grin as he entered the room. “Good morning to you as well Davius.” Kaneas grinned back at the man. “Shall I inform the master of your arrival?” Davius said as he put down a few plates with food on them. “I’ll go see Firomis in a bit, is Rydia here?” Kaneas said as he picked up one of the plates and began eating from it. Davius looked at Kaneas, “Indeed she is. Firomis just happened to have called a meeting not too long ago. The members of Silver are almost all here actually. In fact all of the members arrived here yesterday morning. Is this the young prodigy you’ve been training for the past two years?” Davius looked at Deckard for a moment. Kaneas nodded, “Yeah, he’s the son of Terrus.”

Davius nodded as he left the room. “I’ll bring Rydia here so she can take a look at the two of them.” After a few minutes, the door to the room opens once more as a short, spunky blonde girl comes running through it. “Kaney!!” the girl shouted loudly, though the thick walls deafened the sound out so it wasn’t heard outside the room. Kaneas jumped up from the chair after setting his plate down. “Hello there Rydia.” He smiled at her as she jumped up and gave him a hug. “Where have you been and why haven’t you come back sooner!? We’ve so worried about you for the last 3 years!” She then realized that there were two more people in the room on the beds and gasped as she jumped off of him. “Oh…” she said as she looked over the two of them. “What happened to them? They’re all cut up and stuff…” Rydia walked over to the girl first. “Can you heal them up?” Kaneas asked slowly. Rydia looked at him for a moment and nodded slowly. “I’ll try, but it might take awhile with the level of damage they’ve taken… did they take on an army of something?”

Kaneas shook his head slowly and let out a small burst of laughter. “They were the armies. The man on the bed has spent several years looking for that girl and when he finally met her again she attacked him.” Rydia frowned quickly. “That’s horrible… why would she do that?” Kaneas pat her on the head to comfort her a bit. “Don’t worry, she doesn’t hate him. I think she was just testing him to see how strong he had become. But I never would’ve thought I’d see yet another user of light magic… That brings the total to 3 so far, and they’re all in this room.” Rydia’s eyes opened widely when he said that. “She can use light magic too!?!” From the way that Rydia acted is was almost impossible to discern her real age, especially since she was so tiny. She was actually 21 years old, though most of the time she acted like a small child would. She was a very energetic person, and everyone who knew her instantly became friends with her. She was also a pacifist and never once lifted a finger to fight anyone. It was clear as day that the girl had a vast amount of magical energy within her, and it was also clear that her powers were extraordinary compared to most. However, even though she was in control of all that power, she still refused to use it for anything that involved hurting people, so she instead only used it to help people.

“I can’t believe these two actually went that hard on each other, hahaha.” Kaneas laughed a bit more after she had finished healing Estellise and began working to heal Deckard. “Where were you guys at that allowed them to go all out like that without there being concern for innocent people getting injured anyway?” Rydia asked in a worried voice. “Don’t worry, they didn’t destroy anything or kill any civilians. I actually don’t think these two have ever killed anyone anyway. We were over in Thelmios though, it that puts your mind at ease a bit.” Rydia shook her head quickly. “It doesn’t put my mind at easy at all.” She sighed loudly. “From the looks of it, I think this guy got the bulk of the attack, so he’ll probably be unconscious for a day or two. The girl should wake up in a few hours, give or take a few.” She sat down in a chair after she finished healing Deckard. “Geez, I haven’t had to heal anyone that much since like five or six years ago.”

An hour passed by before Estellise woke up slowly, holding her head a bit from dizziness. “Good morning Estellise.” Kaneas greeted her. She opened her eyes quickly. “Deckard!?” she asked loudly as she looked around, but saw only a bandit looking figure with a mask on. “Who are you?” she said as she narrowed her eyes on the figure. “I’m a friend of Deckard’s. He’s lying in the bed next to yours.” He stood up from the chair he was sitting in and walked over to Deckard. Rydia sat up from the chair she was sitting in also and walked up to Estellise. “You must have used quite a powerful attack on him; it’s amazing that he even lived through it.” Estellise jumped off the bed and put her hand on Deckard’s forehead. “You idiot… why did you have to go and stop your attack at the last moment… You ended up hitting yourself with your own attack.” She closed her eyes slowly and her body began to glow brightly. “I already healed-“Rydia started to say but stopped the moment she realized that Estellise’s healing powers were far greater than hers.

“Wow… that’s… amazing… I did the best I could to heal his wounds and yet I couldn’t completely heal them. But you, even in your condition you were still able to finish healing them in just a mere instant.” Rydia smiled quickly and looked upon Estellise with admiration. The light quickly faded and Estellise looked at Rydia, blushing. “H-huh? W-what are you talking about, I’m sure you could’ve done it if you tried hard enough…” she looked away quickly. “Would you mind staying here to watch over him then until he wakes up, Estellise?” Kaneas asked her calmly. She looked at him. “I have questions for you.” She stared at him closely. “And I will give you answers, just as soon as I take care of something. Rydia, would you like to join me? I’m going to go meet up with Firomis in the garden.” Rydia nodded quickly and followed Kaneas outside, walking side by side with him all the way outside to the garden.

The garden was extremely beautiful and filled with hundreds of different types of flowers, all of which were assorted by color. In the center of the garden there were two people, and both of them had just turned their attention towards the direction of Kaneas and Rydia, who were walking towards them now. One of the people standing in the garden was Firomis himself, but the other was a person that Kaneas had never seen nor met before. Firomis was wearing his usual outfit comprised of something that was all white, and a hat on his head. His hair was also white, which was strange because there weren’t many people with a head of pure white hair. The girl was a red head, and although she didn’t look like someone of Firomis’ rank, it was still clear that she carried the status of nobility. “Good morning Firomis. It’s been awhile.”
