• Ch. 6 Honma Family
The Honma family has a record of fighting ‘cause of Hidekazu. His younger brother, Yoshida, doesn’t like fighting, but he will if Hidekazu asks him to join.
They started fighting when people started making fun of them for liking black butterflies. Hidekazu couldn’t stand it and fought everyone he knew that made fun of him and his brother. Yoshida joined him when that happened. Pretty soon, they all ganged up on Hidekazu and Yoshida, but it was not a pretty site. Hidekazu and Yoshida beat them all so badly that they’ve been arrested.
They didn’t kill anyone. (They almost did) I’ve never met them, and I really don’t want to, but I’m not letting Shoji do something stupid.
“Shoji, how do you even know these guys?” I asked.
“I ran into them somewhere. I told them about myself, they told me about themselves, and it kind of went on from there,” he replied. “I know people. Let’s leave it at that ok?”
    I didn’t argue.

We walked a pretty long way. Through alleys, over chain fences, across busy streets, and finally we made it.
Their house looked creepy from where we were standing. I was afraid to walk any further, but I wasn’t going to stay out there alone.
We went to the door and he knocked. A few moments later, a girl opened the door. I’m guessing their sister:

“Welcome back Shoji. Who did you bring with you?” she asked.
He looked at me. “My cousin, Amari. Hang out with her, I have to talk to your brothers,” he replied. He walked passed her and disappeared down the dark hallway.
She stepped aside to let me in. I hesitated for a while. “I’m not going to hurt you. My brothers are the ones who do the fighting,” she said. She walked to the living room and sat on the couch. She grabbed her laptop and started typing.
I walked in and sat next to her. “I hear your brothers like to fight. Do you like it when your brothers fight?” I asked, trying to get a conversation going.
She didn’t look away from her computer. “I try not to talk about their fighting. It’s their life, and I believe that they should do what they want, when they want to,” she replied.
That totally killed the conversation. “Oh…” I didn’t know what else to say. I wasn’t sure if I should start another conversation ‘cause she might kill that one too. I watched as she typed.
“What are you typing,” I asked.
She looked at me like she wanted me gone. “If it was any of your business, you’d know,” she replied. She was rude, and I didn’t know her.
“Now now Izumi. That’s no way to treat a guest.”
She didn’t turn away from the computer, but I did. I saw two boys standing next to each other. One was reading a book; the other was just standing there. Just like this:

“Yo, what’s with your friend anyway? She isn’t supposed to be here. Get rid of her,” the one on the right ordered.
That must be them. The Honma brothers. Only one of them looked like they’d fight. The other one didn’t look like he liked fighting at all. From his calm voice, you wouldn’t know that he fights. I’m surprised that he does.
“I’d like to, really, but this is Shoji’s cousin,” she replied. She shut her laptop and set it on the table in front of us.
The one on the left shut his book. “Welcome,” he said. “I am Yoshida Honma. This is Hidekazu Honma.” He glanced at him then at the girl sitting next to me. “And that’s Izumi Honma. Sorry, neither of them have any manners.”
He’s polite. What got his mind into fighting? “I’m Amari. Nice to meet you,” I replied.
“We heard your cousin died somehow,” Hidekazu said.
“Uh… yeah, he did. A little while ago actually,” I replied.
“Do you know who killed him?” Yoshida asked.
I shook my head. “No, I got there when it was over.”
“She’s lying. She knows exactly who did it,” Izumi said.
I looked at her, but she had her eyes closed. I had no idea what was going on, but it was getting weird.
“I know. It’s why I asked. Obviously, we can’t trust you. Now, answer this again, do you know who killed him?” Yoshida asked again.
    “I don’t like this. Where’s Shoji?” I asked.
Hidekazu shrugged. “I guess he left to go after this Daisuke guy. He said he was going after the killer. That’s Daisuke right?”
I got up and ran out of the house without saying anything more.

I ran back the way I came, all the way to Shoji’s house. I stopped when I saw Daisuke sitting by the curb. He got up when he saw me coming. “Amari… I’m sorry… I tried telling you that would happen, but it was either his life or yours,” he said. His wings were trying to come out. I saw the back of his shirt moving.
“Why did you do that?! If you could stop yourself from killing me, why couldn’t you stop yourself from killing Ken?!” I had tears in my eyes; they were overflowing onto my cheeks.
“What, you actually think I like killing people?! Someone knew what I was, so I killed them! It’s not my fault; it’s just in my nature! I can’t control my other side. I could barely control myself when you found out what I was. That was so difficult. I even went to your house; I almost lost it there,” he said.
He must have closed my window. “How were able to stop from killing me?” I asked.
“I’m not quite sure,” he replied; his voice was quiet.
I stared at his eyes. He was constantly looking around. “What’s wrong?” I asked.
In a flash, he appeared right in front of me. His arms were around me, as if he were protecting me from something.
Out of nowhere, I heard a gunshot and Daisuke let out a scream of pain. “Agh!”
He fell to his knees. “Daisuke?! Daisuke, what happened?!” I was so scared. I saw his wings sticking out a little at the bottom of his shirt. His shirt was getting covered in something black.
    “I-I’ve been shot,” he replied.
That black stuff is his blood! I looked everywhere but I couldn’t see anyone. The streets were completely empty. “Where is the person at?” I asked.
He could barely stand up. He turned around and faced the dead end sign that was at the end of the street. I saw that his back was healing.
“Over there. Hiding in the tallest tree,” he said as he pointed passed the dead end sign. Above the sign was a large oak tree.
“Come out! I know you’re there! Show yourself!” he shouted.
A few moments later, I saw someone walking toward us. Daisuke covered me with his back, but I could still see.
The person stepped out of the shadows.
“Hello Daisuke Fujisaki. There’s no way I’m letting you get away this time.”
