• Chapter 1

The silver moon slowly rises up into the night sky. Normally, quiet would settle on this neihborhood, but not tonight. Loud music echoes around the city alley ways. A party. Bright lights flash all over the nearby park. The sound of laughter. Drunk laughter. After a night of heavy drinking, the people were finally starting to stumble back to their homes. Jackie hadn’t had much to drink at all. She hated these parties. Her boyfriend invited her to come though. They had a saying at her school. What John wants, John gets. She didn’t have much choice. Jackie watches as her drunk boy friend stumbles out the door. He stumbles over to jackie, wrapping his arm around her.
“Just get me home John” Jackie says roughly. John nods.
“Come on guys. Tough neihborhood. Lets walk her home” John says, the stench of alcohol heavy on his breath.

The silence in the night is broken as John and his friends drunken laughter breaks through it. John laughs.
“Jones, you’ve been drinking way too much” John says, chuckling to himself.
“No. I’m seriousdude. There was a couple that came here to make out, do naughty things, whatever. They were found dead the next day, here. No finger prints. The girl had died of fright, and the guy had no signs of why he died. He just apparently died. There are tons more stories like this one too. Dude, this park is haunted. There is something here”John’s friend Jones rambles on. John laughs.
“Ok. Boys, head off home. I’m going to walk Jackie home” John says. The other guys all head off in another direction, yelling off whatever drunken goodbye’s they could manage. John looks over at Jackie.
“I want to go home John. Please, just take me home” Jackie pleads. John grins.
“You know how things work around her Jackie. What I want, I get. And, I think you know what I want” John says, stepping toward her.
“Don’t you dare touch me” Jackie shouts at him. A chilling breeze blows through the park. John shivers as chills run down his spine. John reaches out, grabbing Jackie by the wrist. John looks around nervously. It felt like he was being watched. John whips around. Standing behind him is a figure dressed entirely in black and cloaked in a dark hood and cloak.
“Leave her be” The figure says. John looks over at the figure, tossing Jackie away.
“You stay out of this!” John barks, marching up to the dark figure. The figure stares at John silently.
“Fine, I’ll make you leave” John says, lashing out at the figure. The figure blocks it effortlessly with his left arm. The figure ducks down under a second punch, spinning around and backhanding John across the face. John growls angrily. He lashes out at the figure again. He stares stupidly though as his fist passes right through the figure. John looks around. The figure had completely dissapeared. John walks back over to Jackie. He suddenly flinches as a voice echoes in his head.
“Your heart has been judged. You intend harm apon this woman. This si your final warning. Leave now. Or pay with your life” The voice of the dark figure echoes in his head. John whips around. He quickly scans over the park.
“Fine then. So be it” The voice says. John quickly looks around in a panic.
“Show your face you coward” John shouts out into the night sky. Suddenly he freezes. A gasp of breath manages to escape his lips as an icy boney touch comes over his neck. John slowly crumbles to the ground, his eyes cold and life less. Jackie watches in horror as the figure stands over John’s body. He had appeared out of nowhere. He had literally appeared out of the shadows. The figure slowly turns.
“His heart was judged. His intentions were evil. He would have had his way with you, then been done with you” he figure says, dropping a small black pistol with John’s name engraved into the handle at Jackie’s feet. Jackie bends down and picks it up. It was John’s hand writing.
“Thank you. You saved my life” Jackie whispers.
“ Do not thank me. I do not deserve your thanks. I am no hero” The figure says, his face hidden in his hood. Jackie is about to say something, but before she can. He was gone. She quickly picks herself up, running home as fast as her legs could carry her.
