He gave me the blank stare - I could see it in his eyes: nothing. That's exactly what I saw; a lot of it.
"Why do you stare at me this way?" I shuddered, my teeth continuing to chatter, without noise, even after finishing the spoken word and drifting into a silent crowd of cold wind.
"Huh? Oh, sorry. It's just my normal stare. Yeah..uhh, most people see it a little creep," he kept gaping into my soul, through my pupils. Though his eyes were quite dead, they were surprisingly shiny, and his iris was fiery red. No wonder, I thought, that his eyes burn into me so much. "Don't worry, I ain't gonna kill ya, or sutin', boy."
"I know," I replied, but I really didn't, "Thanks for the directions, uh, sir." I exited the building, my eyes widened, and I felt my heart knock and kick frantically against my chest, as though my heart thought my body wasn't fast enough; that instead I should open my chest for it, and let it run out as fast as it can. In fact, my heart's palpitation seemed to be way ahead of the fright that I had left whence it was encountered - farther than my legs, way farther.
I decided to stay still, as incentive for my heart to come back to me and settle inside me. I leaned my palms against my knees, my back bent, as I gasped for air.
What in hell's blazes was I so afraid of? It was just a dang blank stare, isn't it? If I go any faster, I might as well get a cramp in this giant sea of snow. My feet were numb, and pale, so pale that they seemed to simply melt and mix into the snow around me. The snow fell down on my cheeks, its little blows enlarging the redness of my cheeks, and whitening the hair atop my head.
If only it would whiten the teeth I bear, ugly and yellow. I laughed at myself, the smoke drifting and dancing out of my mouth to the music of my laugh, as they (the smoke) faded the sight which my eyes bare in front of them.
I stood straight, and continued walking, my feet dragging slowly against the snow, as though chained to millions of pounds of gold. But it wasn't the gold that mattered - it was what awaited me when I got to the homeless shelter.
Finally, some nice good food - hopefully some nice hot soup. I sighed in anticipation, my mouth open, salivating, and my tongue out.
Some nice hot soup, with tender little pieces of carrot, blazing in my esophagus, and bombing in my stomach. Surrounded with onions, dripped in dots of hot sauce. How amazing it would be.
I heard a rustle behind me, and immediately I turned my head around - or should I say at least tried to? The scarf about my neck choked me, its ends, wiggling around, making love with the amazing wind the blizzard blew.
I saw nothing in back of me, or nearly in back of me, but a bunch of dark gray buildings, smoking away outside their tops, making ash clouds - how nice. Not just snow, but ash now is what is to fall, huh?
But it made sense - the colder it got, the more heat the people in their homes needed, so they dropped more wood into the chimney. Had I had a home, it would be a mansion full of heaters, rather than chimneys. I looked to the side, in which there was a school planted, the snow forcing the doors shot, and holding the door tightly against anyone that wished to come out. The snow against the door did a favor - it was whispering to them "don't come out" as they forcefully pushed the doors closed.
I look upwards of the school, and spotted the flag - our flag. The Second Lone Star Republic, huh? The flag was the same as the first Lone Star Republic, except implanted into the star, very carefully, was the 2, the organ, the heart of the flag - the thing that made a difference between these Republics and the previous very old one.
Texas was originally the Lone Star Republic, but when the swine flu started striking the Northeast, particularly New York, some states were immediately frightened. In order to deal with the situation practically, the states had thought that splitting from the union will make it so infection propagation was much harder (New Jersey became the 2nd Lone Star Republic). Right now in New York, only 1% of the population does not have the swine flu, half of those who do probably already dead. Maybe New York should now be name The Lone York, for its now decrease in number of civilians.
But enough of that, I thought to myself, I turned to see what made the noise, not contemplate the flag.
The flag flapped and flopped - yes, the rustle must've been from the flag, I thought.
I continued to stride against the snow, trying to go a bit faster now, as I must not wait any more minutes for my stomach to go as stale as the bread would be stale if I do not arrive early enough to the shelter. They must have bread - that's a basic food product.
I kept looking forward, but only saw hazes of snow. The directions - how could they help me, if the snow blocking my eyes will not dare reveal to me the street in which I am now not striving in transportation in.
A very very dark shadow trespassed my path, and looking closer, I...I! I observed a sharp point extending from the shadow! It must be but a knife! A knife!
I screamed against the music of doom that range through my ears, as I knelt down, looking at the knife's shadow as it slowly faded into the blizzard snow! I closed my eyes, and I teared a little.
A guy with knife. In back of me.
After 30 seconds of kneeling, I first departed the eyelids of one of my eyes from each other, letting me half-see, as my other eye was yet to open - but eventually did. The knife shadow was still there.
The so-called "knife" shadow was still there. I squinted, in suspicion, though suspenseful, and turned my head to the side opposite of the side I faced beforehand. Aha! If it was but a tree with leaves! The leaf look like a sharp end, and the stick looked like the place in which the would-be perpetrator could rest his hands upon.
I laughed at myself. I can't believe I actually thought that! Ha ha!
Giddy, I continued to smile, compressing the secreted mucus of my nostrils between my nose and my lips against my nose.
I felt something cold hit the back of my head, firmly caught there. Probably just a snowball - silly me. I cannot afford to be more paranoid! I must get quick to the eats! The feast! The edible objects! The consumption materials! The digestive objects! The Food!
I heard a slight click at the end of my neck, and felt a chilling cold run through my spine, sending me shudders, as the cold object compressed further against the back of my head.
My breathing became slightly irregular, and slow, as my heart paced a little faster, my feet running with great strength, against the chains that seemed to pull me down to the ground.
Probably just a part of my coat brushing against the back of my head, I thought, yes, yes. I closed my eyes, and began to try to run with the snow.
I heard a chuckle, and I quickly turned around, my heart now having exploded like an atomic bomb, radiation throughout my body, my skin dissolving, and my muscles and bone crumbling like the bricks of old buildings in which the vines of trees invade. My eyes widened, as I saw the man's face.
The man who gave me the directions.
"Spare me! Spare me!" I cried!
"I was kidding, fellow, run along now." he grinned, and snickered.
I looked at him with irate eyes - who would make such a joke.
"It's a toy gun, look..."
He threw the gun at me. "Shoot me," he demanded. I clicked the gun, and that was all it was. He was alright. Relieved, I sighed, my eyes still irate as they perceived him like the eyes of a war hawk would.
Don't you think, my pal ol' journal, that that is a really stupid jo-
------------------------------------
FBI Report: While writing this entry in his journal at the homeless shelter, after eating some soup, this man, having no name or claim over his body, was found dead, resting and choking on/with his own blood, pen at hand, with a bullet wound at the back of his head (according to the FBI Forensics Ballistics Team). His eyes were taken out, and their whereabouts are completely unknown, though legends have spread around that the guy who gave this man directions used the eyes to replace his.
Most professionals are skeptical of the veracity of the legend, and instead have traces suggesting to lymphatic system dissections - bringing suspicion to light that this may be a case of scientific murder (a murder for the purpose of finding samples of immune systems immune to the swine flu).
Professionals, however, are still working on this case.

- ^^I like how you tie in events that might happen with events that are happening right now like the swine flu which, did you know, is now going by a new name becuase becasue people think you get it from pigs because of the oldish name xD anyway, good writing.
