• "At last I've done it!" he exclaimed, laughing maniacally and holding the vial above his head as he danced about. "When I release this virus, every human in the world will be forced into a magnificent transformation! Mwahahahaha!"

Kera sighed as she watched her boss dance about the room. "Hey, should you really be daydreaming at a time like this?" she demanded. "Don't you have real work to do today?"

He suddenly stopped his wild dance and glared at her, completely serious. "I'm not daydreaming. In this vial is the virus that will make the dreams of men everywhere come true. Well, I wouldn't expect you to understand, you wouldn't understand moe if it put on glasses and hit you in the face."

She snorted. "Yeah, I really don't understand. Someone who's always saying 'Moe! Moe!' all the time. For all I care you might as well scream 'I'm a pervert, someone put me out of my misery.'"

He glared at her. "You really lack understanding."

Kera got to her feet and stomped over to her boss and snatched the vial of clear liquid from his hands.

"Ahhh! What are you doing? Give that to me!" He demanded, reaching for the vial

She held it just out of reach while he grabbed her shoulder and tried to snatch it from her hands.

"I won't give it to you until you do some real work you pervert scientist." She declared.

He managed to get his hands around the vial. "Don't destroy my dreams!"

As he wrenched it from her the vial tipped and the clear cold liquid splashed across her face. She coughed and then paused. She glared at her boss angrily.

"What type of virus did you make? Did you just infect me with something really weird?" She grabbed the lapels of his white lab coat forcefully and pulled him down toward her.

He was starting at her intently, holding the empty vial in his hand. He suddenly laughed. "They're so cute, but they might be wasted on someone like you."

"What? What's wasted on me?" She demanded. She felt a tickling at the back of her nose and sneezed violently right in her boss's face.

Her boss seemed a little put off by it but he still chuckled as he wiped his face. Then he patted the top of her head and scratched her... her what?

She released him and shoved him away, reaching her hands to her head. What the hell? Soft.. fuzzy.. sort of triangular?

"What the hell did you put on my head?!"

He was still chuckling. "Don't worry all right? It's just nekomimi."

"Nekomimi? What the hell is a nekomimi?" She was almost at the limits of her temper, and was considering violently murdering her pervert of a boss when she saw on his head also... cat ears!

"Boss! Ears! You have cat ears!"

He lifted his hands to his head in surprise. "Me?" He touched the soft fuzzy ears and then smiled. "Hehe, I have ears too."

Kera snatched the empty vial from his hand. "Not 'hehe.' How do you intend on fixing this? Do you really want to walk around in public like that?"

He sat down on one of the nearby desks. "It's not that big a deal right? Besides, soon everyone we come into contact with will have them too. Then it won't seem weird at all."

She finally couldn't take it anymore. She sat down the vial and picked up instead a nice, thick book from the desk. He seemed to sense her intentions. He backed away and ducked as she threw it at him. Unable to stop she picked up one book after another and threw them at him.

    **************

She sat on the bus and glanced about at the other passengers. It had been about a month since she and her boss had infected themselves with the "nekomimi virus." Now there wasn't a single person without cat ears. A few wore hats which hid the unwanted cosplay feature but most simply bared their new set of cat ears for all the world to see. She couldn't help but feeling partially responsible for the virus released by her stupid boss thanks to his stupid perverted ideas. Of course, how was she supposed to know that the virus would become extremely popular among certain crowds. Some people were frantic to catch it. She turned away from the people on the bus and stared at the people they passed by. Nekomimi everywhere. Wherever her nekomimi maniac boss had disappeared to she was sure that he was quite happy.
