• Chapter One

"What in God's name are you burning, Naomi!?"

Zachary Bridgett's brunette head popped into the doorway, his ears reddening, blue eyes glaring daggers into the kitchenette. Naomi thought that you could practically see the steam shooting out of his ears.

    Naomi blinked at him skeptically,
    "...Never heard of waffles?"

"Are you out of your mind!?"

"Stop yelling at me! Just sit down and try a waffle."

"No! And you know you're not suppose to cook without someone helping you!" he furiously pointed to himself,

Camellia stepped into the kitchen, wiping sleep from her eyes, just in time to witness their guest Naomi shove a crispy burned waffle into her older brother's mouth.

While Zachary staggered into the wall, clutching his throat, Camellia sniffed delicately at the scent that stained the air. She turned to Naomi,
    "What are you cookin'...?"

"Cammie! Morning! Wanna waffle?" Naomi giggled, dropping her spatula and pulling the little girl into a hug. 'Cammie' was an adorable five-year-old, going on six, with long golden hair that would shine in the sunlight.

"Fire!" Zachary choked out, pointing over to the stove.

Indeed, a kitchen towel carelessly hanging above the stove had caught on fire. Naomi stared at the rising flames as Zachary bolted to get water.

She smiled to herself as Camellia pointed out the pretty colors swiveling in flame,
    "Today's going to be a good day~"
