Daniel woke to the sudden crash. He blinked and furrowed his brow. Crash. There it was again. The young boy wriggled out of his blankets and carefully climbed out of his crib. He'd been doing this for the last couple nights, climbing out of the crib, going to his parents room, climbing on their low bed, cuddling with them. He carefully got up and started to hobble towards the door. He made his way through the maze of toys that he'd left the day before, and exited the room. He turned and walked over to his parents room. He sat down at the foot of the bed and babbled a bit. "Daah, Momma, jaa." He stood back up and climbed up onto the bed. He walked over the bed and looked at the tossed around sheets. "Momma?" He patted where his mom usually slept. "Mum. Dah." He patted where his dad usually slept. The bed was empty. He got up and turned around. "Mom? Dah?" He wobbled over to the foot of the bed and slid down. He walked over to the side, and what do you know, there was his mother. "Mum." He walked over to her and looked at her. "Mumma?" he patted her arm. She didn't move. She must be really sleepy, he thought. He got up and walked to the other side. Nothing, no one. He started crying. "Dadda? Dad, Dadda?" He walked over and put his hands on the ground, so he was bent over. He heard footsteps behind him. "Dadda?" He got up and turned around. There was someone there. But it wasn't his dad. He walked over. "Dadda? Momma?" He sat near the persons feet and looked up. He heard the breathing, the quiet rasping of someone else.
"Did we get the right house?"
"They didn't say anything about a kid."
    "What the? A kid?"
    "Here."
He saw another person come over. "Jeez, he's just a small one."
    "Momma?"
The person bent down and picked up Daniel. "What's your name?"
    "Daneil."
    "Daniel."
    "Mep."
"Well, I guess this is a far different thing than we expected."
The person started carrying him around. He blinked. I guess this is my new momma and dadda. I wonder where the other two went. He soon fell asleep in the man's arms.
