• There once was a widow who had a daughter who was so greedy that the poor woman did not know what to do with her. She would gobble up everything up so the widow would come home with nothing to eat.

They so happened to have a wolf as a neighbor. The wolf owned a frying pan, and the woman could not afford one so the widow would send her daughter to borrow the frying pan. The wolf gladdly loaned the pan to the window and he always sent a nice little omelette for them. But the daughter was so greedy she gobbled it up before she got home and the widow never got a taste.

When the widow was finished with her frying, she would say to her daughter: "In the morning scour the pan clean and return it to the neighbor. Take the loaf of bread i baked today and thank him." But the daughter was more lazy then greedy; she waited till her mother went to the market and she ate the bread and put mud in the frying pan and gave it back to the wolf. "Poor woman can't afford to clean the pan" said the wolf.

This went on many times but it chanced soon that the wolf met the widow in the market. "How did you like my omlettes?" said the wolf? "I'm sure you make wonderful omelettes" said the widow "but i have never tasted them" The wolf was outraged; then he thought of the greedy child. "I'll show her" murmured the wolf and stormed away.

He went to the house and said to the greedy daughter, "I'm here to punish you for your unkind gifts of mud and ditch water", he roared. "Well if your going to gobble someone up i suggest you eat my good for nothing if you must" said the girl. Then the wolf growled and ate the greedy daughter up.
