• The wind whooshed around me as I walked down the leaf covered path. I didn't know where I was, or why I was there. All I knew was that I was alone and that's how it was going to stay. I walked and walked for what seemed like hours, and then I heard it. A voice so angelic it would have to of been an angel. The angel whispered my name over and over again.
"Ayami....Ayami," The angel called to me. I couldn't answer back. I could only walk towards the sweet sound. I dragged my feet slowly, but as fast as I could. The minutes dragged by. I could only put one foot in front of the other. And then I stopped and stared in awe as I found what I was searching for. A beautiful woman stood in front of me. She glowed like the sun.
"Were you the one calling me?" I asked still in awe. She slowly turned and looked at me. Then she spoke.
    "Yes are you Ayami?"
"Uh...um...yes I am. Who are you?" I questioned.
"That will come all in good time. Do you know why I have called you here." She said very calmly.
"No. I do not know why. I don't even know where I am." I said in a frustrated tone.
"Ayami....Wake Up Ayami. Your Already Late." The woman said. At that same moment I awoke to find my room. And the white carpeted floors.
"Gosh, Ayami your a pain to wake up." Yoko, my sister, said angrily.
"Did you push me to the floor to or was that my fault?" I asked half asleep. She stomped out of the room and grumbled something under her breath. I stood up and got dressed. In a very nice pair of purple skinny jeans, a Greenday shirt, and my black Converse shoes. I rummaged through some other pants to find my lime-green studded belt, and my blue studded belt. I got my razorblade necklace and put it on. I slowly walked to the bathroom brushed my teeth, straighted my difficult brown and blue streaked hair, and then fixed my make-up. I raced down the stairs and grabbed my back-pack.
"Off to school Ayami. Won't you have some breakfast," my mom asked.
"No thanks mom. Not this morning. Love you bye."
I hurried out the door, and then I started thinking about my weird dream. I just didn't believe it. It was so real. I pushed the thought out of my mind and raced down the street.
"Ayami!" someone screamed."Wait up!" I turned around to see Sarah running toward me.
    "Oh, hey. Whats up."
"You my friend were suppose to walk with me today." She said with an acidic tone.
"Ah, I'm sorry Sarah I forgot. I had a weird dream and it must have slipped out of my mind." I said sheepishly. She then started to walk beside me. I walked in silence for a few minutes. And then noticed that my blue studded belt wasn't done up.
"Darn thing." I laughed, "I wear two belts to look cool and then I forget to fasten one."
"You know Ayami I've always liked your style." Sarah said, "It just looks cool. My mother would never let me dress like that. Her excuse is that I'll start being gothic or emo. She just doesn't understand."
"I know what you mean. My mom almost wouldn't let me get gauges, and now they're big enough to stick a pencil through." I said proudly.
"Yeah." Sarah said with a jealous tone. We walked the rest of the way in complete silence. We finally came up to the front of the school, but it felt liked we had walked for miles. Sarah ran inside but I just stood there. I didn't really know how much time I had before the bell rang, but a tardy slip wasn't all that bad. I thought about that for a second until Karla started calling me.
"Come on Ayami you'll be late......Again." Karla called a little to loudly. I just walked towards her and smirked. Karla and Sarah have been my friends since I came to this school. Which was about the fourth grade. And I thought since I was half Korean half Caucasian no one would like me because I was diffrent. But clearly I was wrong I made friends pretty fast and it really did surprise me. Because now I'm fourteen in the eighth grade with fourteen or fifteen friends, but only two bestfriends. "I sometimes amaze myself," I thought to myself
"Really Ayami come on. The principal just wants to have you in the office today." Karla yelled sarcastically. To tell the truth I've always had office trouble. Karla and I usually got in trouble together, Sarah was too scared.
"Yeah I'd like to go see Mr.Gaywood today." I could only say it with a smile. The principals real name was Mr.Maywood, but I call him Mr.Gaywood.
"I would too and we probably will be, but just come on. We have a field trip after lunch, and you can't go if you're in detention." She called to me. I almost forgot about the field trip. Because Karla and I were suppose to take pictures of us while we were doing stupid things with the wax figures in the wax museum. I ran up to the steps and jumped through the door just as the bell rang. And if I didn't know it Mr.Maywood was standing there.
"Morning Ms.Rose and Ms.Young. Glad to see you aren't late Ms.Rose." Mr. Maywood said. And yeah my last name is Rose. Thats my fathers last name. He is Caucasian and my mom is Korean. So when they got married and had me I was a Rose.
"Well Mr.Maywood I didn't feel like coming and talking to you in your office today. I have something important to do after lunch. Now if you don't mind Karla and I will be going now." I proudly said to him. And I just walked away with Karla right behind me.
"Ayami I never really realized how smart your mouth was." Karla laughed
"Yeah I know but Mr.Gaywood gets on my nerves. So I couldn't really help it." I said as I smiled. I continued to walk down the hall to my first block, which was math. I never really liked it, but I had to pass to get out of here.
"I'll see you later Ayami. I have to make it to history class before Mrs.Head finds out I'm not there." Karla whispered to me.
"You could just tell the old bat that you asked to go to the restroom and she said you could."
"Is that just one of your famous excuses Ayami. Well anyways I really have to go bye."
"Bye," I called to her as she ran down the hall. I walked as slowly as I could to Mr.Grody's math class. And yeah thats his real name. I finally reached the door, and just walked on in. He was talking but I usually ignore him anyways.
"Nice of you to join us today Ms.Rose." Mr. Grody said with a touch of sarcasm in his voice.
"Well I get up in the morning just to come in and see your face." I said as sarcastically happy as I could, "it's the only thing that gets me through the day." All the other kids laughed and giggled. I even began to laugh myself.
"Have a seat Ayami." Mr.Grody said very sternly and turned away. I continued to my seat in the back of class. Since I have many friends most are in my classes with me. And for math I have Alex, Justin, and Desiree to entertain me. Alex sits to my right and Justin to my left while Desiree sits in front of me. So we control the back of the class, and we usually get away with it. As I sat down Alex, Justin, and Desiree all put their hands in the air. So I could give them a high-five. Alex got my right hand Justin got my left, and Desiree got well my head. It was sorta like a not-so-secret hand shake.
"Thats the best you've had in awhile Ayi," Alex whispered. Yeah Ayi is my nick-name. The "y" is silent so it's only the "a" and the "i" sound.
"Yeah seriously Ayi we though you went all preppy good girl on us," Desiree added. "like the Blonde Squad."
"Oh my!" was all Justin could say before Mr.Grody Started in on us.
"Now you four wonder why your grades aren't good," Mr.Grody pointed out.
"Well if we all make at least a "C" grade this semester we should all pass." I smarted off. He just looked at me and the Backroom Crew-yes thats our name for the class-and turned back around and started talking about something. Then we all looked at each other and started laughing. Of course Justin laughed the loudest.
"Back to what I was trying to say the first time," Justin said breaking through the almost quite laughter, "I couldn't believe Ayi as a Blonde Squad member. Kinda makes me sick." I could only laugh because what he said was in fact true. The Blonde Squad is self explainatory. Just a bunch of preppy blonde chicks who think they are cool, but in reality aren't. Because by my opinion- and just about everybody elses- I am the coolest kid in the school. Although I have been in a few fun fights with the Blonde Squad I never got a chance to hit Angela, the "leader" of the group. So they usually start fights. Unless I'm bored and won't get into much trouble. And our fights are usually in the cafeteria, so all the teachers know where to watch. Since my group always sits at the same table everyday, except Fridays then some of us might skip to go to Mc Donalds or something.
"Hey Ayi. Hello, come back to earth," Desiree was saying while she waved her hand in front of my face. I hadn't noticed I was looking off into space.
"Oh! Uh, sorry about that I didn't get much sleep last night." Was the only thing I could say. I looked at the clock it was already 9:45 a.m. And class had started at 8:30 a.m. So I had day dreamed for over an hour. Then Desiree and Alex started laughing. I glanced over at Justin. He had a straw and a small wad of paper getting ready to put it in his mouth.
"Ah, a spit wad. What a classic Justin." I implied. But then I had to laugh because I knew what was about to happen. Mr.Grody getting hit in the back of the head with it and not feel it. So the spit wad would be there all day and sometimes the next. Which was weird because it was like he didn't sleep or something. Because if he slept it should come out of his hair.
"Okay everybody here goes. Ready! 1...2...3," Justin whispered before spitting the spit wad. And just as I had thought Mr.Grody didn't feel it, so it would stay the rest of the day.
"Ew!" Desiree and Alex said at the same time.
"Yeah Justin that made a nasty splatting noise." I added. He just laughed, and then we all got silent. But before we died of boredom the bell rang. And the rest of the time until lunch went by in a flash. I walked into the lunch room and talked my way up the line where Karla stood waiting for me like always.
"It's weird how you can move up the line so easily by talking to people," Karla stated.
"I know it is weird when you think about it," I added. She just laughed and grabbed a milk, fork, and lunch tray. I did the same.
"Hey Mrs.Baxter whats for lunch today?" I asked.
"Hello Ayi or would you rather me call you Ayami?" She asked.
"Um...Ayi please." I told her very politely.
"Well anyway we're having hamburgers and shoe string fries today." Mrs.Baxter said. I just nodded and moved down the line. I got along with almost everybody at this school even the lunch ladies. I got my tray and entered my lunch number. I walked over to my table everybody was there. Karla, Sarah, Justin, Desiree, and Alex. I sat down quietly. Then Karla brought up the fieldtrip.
"Hey does anybody know where Patrick, Cierra, and Korie are at?" I asked.
"Oh." Desiree said, "They were the first group for the fieldtrip. So they went when school started, and they'll be back after lunch."
"Were you worried about your boyfriend Ayami," Alex teased. I just looked at him and laughed. Korie is in fact my boyfriend. Korie and I are alot alike. We dress alike, talk like we share a brain, we like to have fun, and plus he likes to get into trouble. Usually it's Karla, Korie, and I that usually get into trouble. Unless he isn't up for it. So then it's just me and Karla.
"Ayi you know today you and Korie sorta dressed alike." Sarah teased.
"Just another thing in common I suppose." I laughed.
"So true actually," Justin said. Then we all just started talking about random things no one cared about like always. And then I heard her talking behind me.
"Hey Ayami." Angela sneered, "all set to go on the field trip. I know I am. Hopefully you didn't bring any razor blades. After all we are going through metal detectors."
"Oh hey Angela. I didn't hear you slither up behind me." I smarted off back, "oh and by the way I'm not emo I'd rather be called a scene kid."
"Haha!" Karla laughed, "she got you quick. Yeah she isn't emo she's a scene kid."
