The wind was howling with force, making a bit of noise past the window. The room was dark, the only light that shown was the dim light of the moon. Jason sat on the edge of the bed, his feet was firmly planted on the carpet floor. His arms rested on his thigh, his hands clutched each other. Piercing his lips, his breathing was cracking as he fought back the endless tears that ran down his cheeks. He could still remember his girlfriend laying down, in the silky black coffin, her long brownish hair in a french braid, and her beautiful hazel eyes closed. Her head held bruises, and her arms showed of beating. She was wearing a velvet white dress that had roses attached to them. Her hands laid besides her not moving. Jason shook his head furiously, as tears came down like a lightning bolt. His hands clutched harder together until he couldn't hold them together any longer, and he stood up pacing back and forth his hands began to thrash at the wall, He yelled in agony, as the images of his battered girlfriend popped up in his head. His back rested on the wall as he stopped thrashing, he couldn't hold the pain anymore. He cried out in pain, as his eyes were blurred with the watery tears that left his eyes with bad vision. He slid down the wall, his shirt being dragged up a bit as he came down. His legs laid lifelessly on the ground and his hands did the same. He was to weak to even move, as his cries roared through his room. It was to hard to bare it, the love of his life, now gone, how is he ever gonna see her sweet smile, or hear her gentle laugh. How is he ever going to hear "I love you," from his own girl. Monica was everything to him, and even though people may say that when you get out of high school, you will forget about them in time. He would never, not now or ever.
He remembered they were walking down the street, The wind was pounding hard on them. It was cold. Monica forgot her sweater at home, she clutched her arms close together, she smiled even though it was cold, it made his heart flutter when she smiled. It was as if his heart skipped a beat just by seeing that smile appear upon her delicate and perfect face. He forgot his sweater also, so he came behind her his arms rested over her shoulder, at least that would give a little body heat to her. He could remember her speechless as she looked at him for a moment looking straight forward so that he wouldn't see her face turn red with blushes. He could never forget that time, it was always trapped in his mind, even though if he decides to forget about it, he could never. He stood up from the floor walking clumsily to the window, pulling on the rope that pulled the blinds up, the rain was pounding on the window, making swishing noises. The lightning slashed a bright light, and another memory came into his head.
"Oh come on, you can't be scared of a little lightning," he said teasing her. His arm was on her shoulder, as she hugged him tightly every time the lightning flashed its powerful light.
"Yeah well I had a very bad experience with lightning," She said giving a face, the lightning struck again and she tightened her grip on him. He didn't know that she was actually scared of it, he didn't want to ask why.
"well I'll protect you," he said smiling, she thought he was joking around and hit him, laughing a bit until the next lightning flashed.
...
Later in the morning he walked into the court sitting down on one of the aisle. He looked at a girl who looked half beaten. Jason looked down to his hands, wishing that his girlfriend still had a chance like this girl did. She sat down with a lawyer by her side holding her hand under the table to comfort her, to stay relaxed that this man will go to jail for what he did, and will be sentenced for first degree murder. Jason looked up as he looked around, mostly everyone of Monica's family was there and so was the other girls too. he didn't dare look at the mother, he didn't want to see the pain in her eyes as she the sixteen year old be alive. Jason suddenly felt anger as he saw the man with the cuffs on his writs and around his ankle. As the judge came through the big door, everyone stood up and waited until he told everyone to take a seat. He shifted his weight he felt very uncomfortable with the man that murdered Monica. he didn't pay attention to what the layer had to say, the only thing he paid close attention is the sixteen year old, Jenny who was one year younger then Monica, and the suspect, known as David, a thirty year old man. He had blue eyes, and light brown hair, his face looked worn out with anger. As Jenny went up to speak her story, she explained in full detail, scared and frightened to even look at the man.
As she was about to begin her little story, She breathed hard as she saw the man stare at her angrily, but also in an innocent way. He almost looked like this was a misunderstanding, but we all know that this man was the only person there that was there. "Well I just got out of the restaurant with my friends, I was heading east as they went west. I needed to visit my aunt at the hospital, she was having her third child. But, as I walked further ahead, I heard a girl yell for help, but it almost sounded muffled," She said avoiding contact with David. "I walked through the parking lot and saw this girl," She said as she was stopped by the layers question.
"And that would be Monica?" She asked.
Jenny nodded her head slowly. "I saw Monica... She was being mugged by that guy," she said now looking at him. "He was wearing blue jeans and a gray sweater," She described that day. "he pulled her purse away, but she refused to give it up. Out of no where the man then punched her, I ran to help her out but he went on a rampage, he came at me as I was trying to help her up. But I got knocked out in the first blow...I don't know what happened then," She said feeling guilty that she didn't have enough evidence to go along with her story, but she lost a bit of memory that night. She was seated down to her original spot, and the man was pulled up for questions and his own story, he didn't tell much only told an alibi. Jason's eyes closed. 'Only for her purse, he killed her' he thought in his mind, he wanted to shout "Guilty! guilty!" But he couldn't. James started to breath hard, as he begin to heat up, from getting mad, he couldn't believe someone would hurt her just for her purse, What kind of stunt was that? why would they do that for a purse that only had ten bucks in there? Finally the decision was made, and the place became quiet only the breathing of the people that was around there could be heard. And it felt like forever before they spoke in terms of what they had to say.
"He is found guilty, for robbery," The voice said, sounding like the only thing alive in this room. "Found guilty for first degree murder, and found guilty for harassment," the voice said, softly. Grieving was in the parents faces, Jason he couldn't believe his ears, he knew that his girlfriends murder was now put to rest. He walked up to Jenny, as everyone walked around hugging each others, tears falling from one and another eyes, as there hopes would be to catch the killer. Jason looked at the girl, he pierced his lips as he looked at Jenny for a moment, and soon enough his shaking body hugged her tightly. Not saying anything, not one word. He stood back and breathed clammily. Walking away, the image of his girlfriends face came to his head, her gentle smile and her dimples as she smiled. She mouthed the words. "I love you," And he smiled now tears wouldn't fall, he had to stay tough, he wanted to do it for her. He admired the cops works in carting the killer, he wanted to be one, and wanted to help people one day, to catch a killer that had murdered someone very important to the ones they loved.
"I'm going to be there with you soon," he said, in his thoughts. "Wait for me."
