    Chapter 1- Awake
Everything was hazy and unclear, and Raven didn’t know why. It was more than the normal just woke up grogginess she occasionally experienced, this was more extreme. Raven was back in the cave, where all her friends were, where they were hiding from the law. At least Raven was hiding, numerous counts of theft and invasion of the law under the alias Fantom. She committed those crimes to help her friends, getting them out of a horrible orphanage. Her friends were her family, and the most things important to her.
Raven sleepily got out of bed, she could have sworn she heard Kyle, “Good morning Rave”
Raven looked all over the cave, nothing that looked like it had human interaction for a while. Not much of the cave was how Raven remembered it, she thought she heard Simon say, “Kyle you’re so ignorant.”
Maybe they’re outside. Raven headed outside, nothing. Not a sign of human life, only over grown weeds that Raven didn’t remember being here before. The sun was sinking, the end of another day. Raven hoped that be tomorrow morning everyone would be back. And throughout the night she thought she heard Kyle snoring, or Nicky whispering. But with the dawn of a new day, only more questions rose, since she saw no one, no food was made, nor was there any food. Then it occurred to Raven, They probably went to get some food. She waited one more day in the cave.
The next dawn, Raven started climbing up the large rock wall to the west of the cave; from up there it was possible to see Jinville. Raven climbed back down as the sun rose above towering buildings of Jinville’s downtown. She was very tired again. She had been very tired, without anyone here to interact with.
Raven crawled under her blanket, without anyone here she felt unmotivated. Raven closed her eyes, her mind began to wander. She dreamed she was dancing, around and around, without any cares. She was dressed in a pure black dress, which kissed her every curve. People of every shape and size were watching Raven move, most of the faces, she did not recognize. She stopped seeing a group of people walk in the front hall. Raven stopped her frivolous dancing, placing a mask to her face. Gracefully she moved through the crowd, away from the front hall. Looking back, Raven noticed the men following her. Raven playfully eluded them, letting them know where she was with tiny giggles and shadows.
They unknowingly ran after Raven, but she had a surprise for them, waiting just ahead. But for now, she would have fun baiting them into her trap. Raven turned around the last corner. Now she would spring it.

Raven shot up from her sleep. She new how that nightmare would end. She’d had that dream before, but Raven couldn’t remember when she’d last had it. The men would end up dead, in one way or another. And Raven didn’t want find out how it ended this time. It was still dark outside, but Raven couldn’t go back to sleep. So she went for a walk.

Raven sat in the dew cover grass on a hill overlooking the Jinville Cemetery. She felt numb. More numb than at the cave, and more numb then when she couldn’t remember anything. A least then someone came to break the silence. This time Nanny wasn’t here to life Raven to her feet. No Kyle to make Raven laugh. Not even Yuki to fight with.
Ever since Raven woke from her sleep she had hardly seen or heard from any of them. Her mind was in such a bad state, she wasn’t sure is they really were talking or if her mind was just playing tricks on her. She wasn’t even sure what had been her dream and what had been real. She was sure that her marriage to Kyle was just a dream and the years she spent at the magic school, it had all been too perfect.
Raven took one last look at the thousands of crosses and mausoleums, cast into the shadows of Jinville’s bustling downtown. Raven slowly walked through the cemetery, hands memorizing one headstone at a time. Of the thousands of tombs out here, one in particular stood out to Raven’s numb mind. There was no name, date, or fancy plate. It was just a simple blank headstone, with a hand carved memorial, “Here lies a loved friend, and infamous thief. She stood tall through the toughest of times, protecting those weaker than she was, taking whatever was thrown at her. May her soul finally find peace and happiness.”
Jinville was already bustling and awake at such an early hour, but Raven wasn’t all there. She walked through the crowded streets, in a fog, not registering the faces that passed. Raven usually was more observant, even when she couldn’t remember her past, she could still remember the faces that passed her.
It’s not smart to be here, a tiny voice inside Raven’s head told her, urging her to leave the city. She continued to ignore it. If anyone was to arrest her, Raven would be gone before her trial even had a date set. Using her Aether element magic. Everyone had their own element based magic, but few could unlock it. Raven’s magic had never been seen before and was very hard for anyone to control, even Raven. Aether was the name giving to her “jack of all trades” element magic.
