• He took the path for a long time and then he turned right off the path. I was following him secretively so he didn't know I was there. I cut through part of the forest to find him and not have to walk down the path. I hit something hard and fell down. I had the wind knocked out of me and I couldn't move I'd landed on some roots above ground. I could move my toes and fingers and the prickling feeling went away in my legs. I opened my eyes and there was the boy and I'd found him just fine. I walked right into his head I knew I shouldn't have followed him he was nothing but trouble. Once more his lips were moving faster than I could see and I could only hear a buzzing. I put my fingers on his lips to make the buzzing stop. And sat up dizzily, I hadn't been in this part of the forest before. It was completely dark other than the bit of sun patching through the trees.
The boy offered his hand to help me up. I grabbed it because I knew I wasn't getting up by myself. He was surprisingly strong and I was lifted up onto my feet. The second he let go of my hand I crawled up a tree, and stopped at the branch above his head. He sighed and walked on toward a clearing ahead. I crawled along the branches following him.
"Where are you going?" I asked him.
"Home is where I am going." he said not looking back. He was still offended I could tell by his tone of voice. I dropped my head and put my legs on either side of the branch I was on.
"If you'd like my mom wouldn't mind having you over she likes company. And so does my sister." he offered me a chance to see his home.
"I-I don't know are you sure?" I asked stumbling. I fell into a small puddle of forgetting my promise to myself. But back in my mind it was whispering 'No!'
He turned around and smiled. "Of course I'm sure. Come on." he said striding back to the branch I was on. He reached up for my hand on the branch. I didn't take it instead I crawled down the tree. I landed softly on the soft squishy dirt. I had taken off my shoes to sleep and forgotten to put them back on. Now all I had was my sun dress and a red rubber band, for my hair, around my arm. I sighed as I squished along behind him. It was a quiet walk through the trees.
"Umm what is your name?" I asked looking down at my feet.
"I'm Jack what's your name?" he said introducing himself.
"I don't really know I've had a lot of families and a lot of names. Call me whatever you'd like. “I tried to answer so I didn't give away anything about me.
"Ok um how about Jen?" Jack asked. I crinkled my nose and shook my head. He started walking backwards he saw my face and laughed.
"Okay what about Shannon?" he asked still smiling
    "Nut-uh bad name." I answered.
"What about Janet?" I considered that name. I hummed for a second.
"Ok Janet it is." I smiled not at the name because in about two second he was going to walk into a tree. He hit the tree and a hollow knock came from inside. I laughed and sat next to him waiting for him to say something. He opened and closed his eyes trying to focus. I was still laughing when he finally focused. He grabbed a low branch and pulled himself up.
"Well look who's laughing miss walk into a person." he said rubbing the back of his head. My laughing slowed and then stopped.
"Sorry, hey where is your house anyways?" I said looking around
"It's like a minute away now Janet." He shook his head
"And March!" he called to himself marching off. I popped up and ran after him. By the time I caught up with him we had reached the house. It was a cottage with a few beds of flowers in the front yard. A white wash gate stood between us and the house. Jack walked to the front door and opened it. The inside seemed much larger than the outside.
