• The night air was bitter and cold. The young girl stared into the night sky, counting the glittering stars that twinkled at her. She smiled, thinking of her beloved, how he would smile at her at nights like these, under the bright stars. She missed his smile, his eyes, his everything. She couldn't stand being away from him so long.

Far away from his beloved, he gazed into the night sky, counting the stars unknowingly as his beloved did. His eyes were distant though. His smile absent. His everything was dull. Out of the two, he hated being away the most. He had problems being away from her. He longed for her constant smile, her everlasting bright eyes, everything. But he gazed at the stars, making him feel better, but only a little.

The girl sighed and sat down beneath the old tree, sipping her hot chocolate silently. "I miss you," she whispered softly. Whenever he was away from her, she would always say the same thing. I miss you, I miss you. She would recite the same thing over and over until he was back in her arms. But . . . this time . . . he wasn't coming back.

It was the day the news had come to the both of them. He was moving away. Far, far away. Out of her reach, out of her life. They had desperately tried to convince his parents to not leave, but they were much too stubborn to change their minds this time. His mom said it was good for him, and his dad wasn't too fond of their relationship anyhow.

The morning he left, she had unfortunately slept in late. He waited and waited, but was heartbroken she never came. He turned to his parents and boarded the train to California.

"Nya," he murmured softly, remembering she had always said that. He smirked, remembering how she thought she was a cat. She always did weird things like that. Weird things . . . that he loved. Tears began to whell up behind his eyes. "Damn, I need some sleep," he tried to convince himself, heading back inside his room and laying down on his more empty bed, trying hard not to remember how she cuddled against him at night.

The next morning, the boy woke from his dreamless sleep the next day. He patted the emptiness beside him, forcing the lump down his throat. He didn’t want to cry right now. He rarely cried in the first place. But now a days, he cried more often. It was slowly killing him being so far away.

He slumped down the stairs, not a soul in the kitchen was to be found. Not a soul in the house really. He glanced at the clock “10:35,” he murmured. Strange. Usually his entire family would be up right now. He glanced outside the kitchen window. No car. That meant they were out somewhere and left him all by himself. Great.

The boy sighed, grabbing his cereal and slumping down on the couch, turning the on the T.V. that was set on Cartoon Network at the moment. He swallowed the lump again along with a spoonful of cereal. They used to the shows on that channel over and over until he or she fell asleep on the couch.

He quickly changed the channel to Animal Planet. Something she never watched. He silently ate his cereal, staring blankly at the screen. There was nothing to do on a Saturday anymore. Especially when the car was gone.

Suddenly, a knock came at the door. He groaned. “Probably another freaking salesman,” he moaned quietly. The knock came mutiple times. It was starting to irritate him. He ignored it though. Finally the knocking stopped. But instead of a knock, a voice spoke up out of the blue.

“Hello, nya!” Nya. In a second flat, he ran to the door, flinging it open. His heart stopped. His eyes began to water, yet he could still see her. There she was, his little kitten. His lover. Standing before him, the everlasting smile plastered right onto her face. He felt the lump come again. This time, he let it stay.

The young couple embraced each other. He set his head on her tiny shoulder while nuzzled her face into his chest. He broke down right there. His knees gave out and the two sank to the ground, tears staining her shirt while she rubbed his back soothingly. “It’s okay again sweety. I’m here,” she whispered over and over.

He didn’t care what would happen at that moment in time. He was just glad to be with her again. He was just glad that they were under the same sky.
