• Shaun. My name is Shaun. I am a reaper. I died 3 years ago, when I was 15 years old. I can only remember a short vision of my past. I was in a large, dark room. I was pushed up against a wall. There was another man there, about my age. He was holding a sword. He stood right in front of me and said “You are weak, and you are hopeless. How could you ever hope to become…” That’s when the guy stops talking, but his mouth is still moving. I can’t remember what he was saying. The vision continues. He thrust his sword into my chest, and I felt like I was losing a part of myself. The vision blurs after that. After that, I remember everything. Before it, nothing. I remember waking up in a white room. I was lying down. When I got up, I was greeted by a door. A normal door, but with no keyhole. I looked behind me and noticed a tablet, floating. I approached it and examined it. It said “The loss of the soul through a mortals actions will result in Death of the spirit. If one of these mortals overcomes the loss of the spirit, it becomes a Soul-collector called a “Reaper”. This Reaper will have the task of collecting all lost souls in the area that it first lost its soul. It will be immortal, not including attacks from other Reapers, Demons, Angels, and Soul-eaters. The Reaper can interact with mortals, and The Reaper can maintain a social life among the mortals while keeping up with its duties.” Once I had finished reading, a dark, scratchy voice behind me asked “Do you accept the terms and conditions?” I quickly spun around and saw a black cloak with a hood. The hood was pointed in the back. I could see red, glowing eyes, but I couldn’t see the characters face. I asked “What do you mean? Where am I?” The cloaked man sounded as if he had no emotion when he said “You are in the castle of the Grim. The resting place of The Grims themselves. Do you accept what you read on the tablet there?” I pondered for a short moment. I thought it would be best to answer this man before asking my questions. I was dead, so I didn’t think I would be doing much if I wasn’t a Reaper. It sounded like fun to me. “Yes, I do accept.” I answered. I continued. “I have a few questions.” The cloaked man said “Follow me. I will answer your questions on the way to Father Grim. Come.” He began to walk towards the door with no keyhole. I walked up behind him and watched as he waved his hand across the front of the door. A sign on it glowed. It looked like two scythes crossing each other. The sign disappeared and the door itself began to fade away. There was now an opening where the door used to be. He walked through it, and so I followed with him. We were walking down a white hall that seemed endless. He asked “You had questions?” I walked up next to him and looked at him. A shadow still covered his face. “Yes, what is a ‘Grim’? How did I get here? Who are you?” The cloaked man seemed to gain emotion as he answered me with “You can call me Louie. I run the R.D.O.” I noticed his demonic smile. His teeth were wide and sharp. He continued explaining as we continued walking. “A Grim is a legendary beast of massive size. There are only a few left. They have various forms, but there main form is like a wolf and a man from your dimension put together and multiplied in sized by 17. You’ll just have to see for yourself. You died, and specifically your soul had been taken by a mortal. But, instead of losing your spirit and perishing, you held onto something from your past life, and you were stuck here in between life and death, and that’s how you got here. You are now able to become a Reaper.” I was now getting some answers, and some more questions. “What is the R.D.O.?” I asked Louie with much curiosity. He answered with “The R.D.O. is the Reaper Development Organization. It is where we train Reapers, like you, in the ways of getting the gear you need, learning your starter soul powers, and the rest of the new Reaper necessities.” I looked ahead and saw an arch that opened up into another large room. Louie said “Come along, the hall of The Grims is just ahead. There, we will meet Father Grim. He will evaluate you on your spirit.” And with that, we approached the arch.
