• Mason opened the car door for me after we pulled up in front of my house. I smiled as he took my hand my cheeks turning a bright scarlet. I opened the front door and called “Mom! Come down stairs I want you to meet someone.” My mother walked in from the kitchen. She looked over at Mason and smiled.

“Well hello,” she said shaking Mason’s hand. Very handsome Ivy but you mustn’t get to close to a human she thought to me. I looked down towards the hand she was shaking the mark pointed upward facing her saying “I’m not normal look at me!” She looked down and smiled wider. “Please have a seat,” My mother said gesturing to the sofa. Mason nodded and we walked over to the couch. Mason sat on the loveseat looking at me then his eyes darted to the spot next to him then back to me. I smiled out of my mother’s view and sat down next to him.

    Mason

Ivy sat next to him all he could remember was the way she smiled, how it lit up her entire face. When he smiled at her he remembered the soft pink that would come to her cheeks, the way her eyes sparkled in any light. Ivy was the center of his world; he snuck another look at her. Her hair was falling out and some of it flowed over her shoulder, her thick eyelashes as she blinked framed her eyes perfectly, she laughed and it sounded like the tinkling of bells, music just for him, and last her lips the lipstick she wore now gone revealing perfectly shaped lips a dark pink color she could have easily went without lipstick. Freckles that were barely visible dotted her cheeks and nose. She must have felt him staring because she turned towards him slightly and flashed a wide smile that made his heart race. He smiled back and held her hand. “Mason?” Her mother asked taking him out of his trance.

“Yes Mrs. Vines,” He answered unwillingly taking his gaze off of Ivy.

“It’s almost 10 do you have to be home now?” Her mother asked looking at her watch. Mason nodded and stood from the loveseat. Ivy followed him to the door and stepped outside into the cool night while shutting the door behind her.

“Bye” She whispered her brown eyes framed by her perfect lashes looked up to him. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her close. Ivy’s hands instantly went around his neck. He pressed his lips to hers the same feeling overpowered him as it had at the dance. He pulled away a crooked smile playing on his lips.
“Goodbye” He whispered pressing his lips one last time against hers before retreating to his black Volvo. Until Monday he thought

I leaned against the door as he disappeared driving away in his car. My head was replaying each kiss over and over. The way his lips pressed softly onto mine, the way his arms tightened around my waist. It was magic. The thoughts I had to him before had new meaning now, he felt the same way he always had. I walked back into the house my mother still sat on the arm chair. “He is a nice catch Ivy, don’t chase him away,” My mother said looking up a smile coming across her usually serious face.

    “I won’t, I definitely won’t” I whispered.

“Good why don’t you get ready for tomorrow we have a big day,” She said the serious look coming back to her face. I nodded and went upstairs some moment I thought shaking my head as I went. When I got to my room I pulled my hair down and it flew gracefully back down to my elbows. I wiped the rest of my lipstick off and put on my Pj’s. I went into the bathroom and brushed my teeth, I turned the water off in time to hear the front door slam shut. “Hey sweetheart,” I heard my mother say.

“Hi pumkin,” My father replied I gagged as I stood in the bathroom. I was still grossed out by that. I rinsed my mouth out and brushed my hair. I walked out of the bathroom and went back into my room. I could hear my father laughing along with my mother downstairs. I wrapped the covers around me and placed my head on the too fluffy pillow and let out a sigh of relief.

“Goodnight Ivy,” My mother called up the stairs.

“Goodnight,” I called back. I closed my eyes and sleep took over.
