• I stood still, the very hairs on my neck rose as a long howl echoed through the woods. i turned to see the eyes of my companion glinting in the dark, the stars shining in his eyes. I knew the hunt had begun, but somehow i was happy. looking up i saw the moon for myself, and then ran through the woods. my companion followed me, i could almost feel his joy. his four legs where faster than my two, but our minds where connected deeper than the deepest sea. i smelled the fresh air, in smelled of wet grass and blood, i turned to him he shook his head nodding that weakened prey was ahead. i brought out my arrow, and quiver and slowly aimed. i could feel his approval. he lightly barked and i let go, instantly something fell on the ground ahead, i made my way out to see a large deer laying half dead on the ground. i pulled the arrow out and cut a slice for my friend. he barked and happily took it. i looked at the sky, cupped my hands and made a large howl. he joined me. but as the howl ended slowly I had to wake up from my dream... back to reality.

    gruffly waking up i looked at my alarm clock. 8:02. "dang missed the bus." I hissed. I ran to my closet, choosing my normal sweater and jeans. i put on my boots, parka, and ran out screaming. "BYE BROTHER WHO CAN'T WAKE ME UP!!" i could almost here him yell back, "NOT MY PROBLEM!!" i rolled my eyes and stalked through the snow. it was a mile away from school, that meant a mile of dragging my lazy feet through snow. i sighed and looked at the road, it was covered in ice, not a good idea to walk on. i continued to walk for another five minutes then stopped at the honking of a horn. i turned to see Howard, Alex, Autumn, Kaitlyn, and Trenton all piled up in Alex's mom's van. i trudged over and opened the door. "thanks!" i breathed and closed the door sitting in between Kaitlyn and Trenton. "hey no prob." said Alex starting the car. "how about if we skip school guys." suggested Alex. every body whooped. "lets head over to the sonic!" giggled Autumn. silently every body groaned in the car. Autumn was the preppy hyper one. "sonic doesn't sound too bad except the fact that they call the school saying we are skipping." argued Howard. "come on Howe, they won't know who we are!" Autumn exclaimed. "we go to there so many times that they always know who we are." growled Kaitlyn. every body agreed. "how about the cafe at the wolf reserve?!" I offered. again every one silently groaned. i flinched. "Serena your obsessed with those wolves. Alex said. I smiled sheepishly. "fine, we never go there so i guess they wont be able to call the school and say who we are, and we can also say we are collage students." Trenton answered. every one in the car was about 17, near 18 so we all looked pretty much like collage students. after a few minuted of Driving we pulled into the parking lot of the wolf reserve.

    Inside glass windows showed wolves walking around grunting every time someone passed. we headed to the cafe, ordered some cheese fry's and shared it with the 6 of us. we decided to take the outside tour which actually let us get in touching distance of the wolves. outside the thick snow almost covered the gates making them look like giant blocking hills instead of gates. the wolves lounged licking each others pelts, running and chasing. several tried fighting with the pack leader. it was fun, but finally some people where getting suspicious so we left. we laughed the whole way. finally we all went silently into separate conversations. i decided to talk to Trenton and Kat. "so which is better, soda or koolaid?!" Kat asked. "your seriously asking? soda definitely." "koolaid is better health wise." i smiled, and turned to autumn. she instantly broke out into a conversation about how fun it is to kiss her boyfriend, in extensive details. she was about to get into how fun it is to french kiss when the car rushed to a stop i looked up. and we all fell silent. cop cars covered the area. "suppose another attack?" offered Trenton. I was confused. "attack?" I asked. "lately there have been drive by shooting. we guess its a local gang but more and more people are getting killed." explained Kat. I shuddered. we drove by and stayed silent.

    I said my goodbyes and went inside. my brother laid across the couch. i threw my text book at him then walked into my room. my brother usually put all my mail i ever get on my bed, i looked over to see a post card from mom. she was in Africa taking pictures and videos for national geographic. I looked to see tons of cheetahs racing against each other, it just said "love ya" in big sprawled letters, i sighed and added it to my collection of the same kind of cards with the same words. I tried not to let it bother me.

    the next day at school we where all cornered down, and forced for questioning on why we where absent yesterday, we all made up and excuse, but Autumn decided to be a butt. she claimed that she was at the doctors office, with a note and everything, and said she saw us skipping though. so all of us except for miss tattle tail got dentition. we all threw mustered covered fry's at her and her new jacket. finally the bell rang and i got up, trudging to the Dentition office. Howard, Alex, Trenton, and Kaitlyn followed. inside we where each given a task, i was given trash pickup with Kaitlyn. we grabbed the bags and stick things that pick up the trash, and walked out.

    outside it was kinda foggy, we couldn't even see the street. i decided to pick up the trash near the frozen lake. i grudgingly made a plan to get Autumn back i stuffed my bag, and went for another and went to the same spot again. the lake was thinly frozen so no one would ever skate on it, but people LOVED pushing people in. I remember when I was having my first year here, some girls got the jocks to throw me in, i got frost bite on my toes. i smiled, that's when Alex, a really buff football player, and Howard the school's music specialist threw the guys & girls in. that's was when i met all my friends, and we where inseparable, but Autumn joined us, mainly cus no one else would take her drama, and made things a tad to lame. smiling again, i picked up more trash. suddenly there was some screeching, i looked up too see Kaitlyn ducking for cover, and gunshots rang out. i froze in place. i heard the bullet, i felt the bullet, and i fell into the lake, everything was getting fuzzy, i heard screaming, a teacher yelled i could here footsteps, and i felt people pulling me out. I heard Kaitlyn crying too... was she shot? the voices where faint, i couldn't here right.... slowly my eyes closed and people started shaking me, the muffled voiced where screaming at me.... it almost sounded as if they where saying "DON'T FALL ASLEEP!!" i grumbled. "but its really realllllllyy.... reallllllllllyyyy warm....." i mumbled. i felt like a ditz. "let me rest in the wolf reserve.... let me rest at the cemetery there...."

    people walked around, everyone dressed in black. people from school, the wolf reserve, and nearby shops. 4 people stood silently together, anther girl was nearby but not looking at them. a boy related to the person who died walked up and placed a single rose onto her coffin, the four, walked up and placed a rose on the coffin. the other girl did the same. finally a large bouquet rested on the coffin. a girl amongst the four started out in sobs. the other boys in the group tried to comfort her, but themselves where crying too. finally the preacher said, "may her soul rest here, along with the wolves as she wished. and silently from a distance, a girl dressed in white stood. beside her was a silver wolf. she smiled at him. but no one looked at this girl even though she stood out extremely. and she whispered. "let me go." and tons of ghostly wolves that no one noticed ran to the coffin, the coffin instantly fell into the hole, everyone gasped not seeing the wolves push it in. the girl walked over to her friend unnoticed, and hugged them, the continued unaware. she cupped her hands and howled, and all the wolves ran with her into the woods.
