Chapter 1- I fight a wierdo
I awoke with a start. I couldn't help but be extra excited for today I finally would start middle school. Sure I had never completed an entire year at any school before, but I couldnt help it. I was dyslexic and had ADHD.
I was an only child. My mother was a nurse at Lennox Hill Hospital. I had never met my father. Mother had said he left when I was three. For that specific reason I hated my father. He had left us and he didn't care about us. Well, I didn't care about him either. Mom had told me not to feel this way. She said he left for a good reason, but I didn't care. If I ever met my father, I'd never forgive him.
I jumped of my bed and flipped in mid-air. I landed perfectly on my feet. That was one thing I was good at, gymnastics. I bowed for my imaginary audience and headed out my door. As soon as I was in the hall the smell of pancakes infiltrated my nose. I walked down the hall and into the kitchen, where mom was setting a plate stacked with four pancakes on the table. She smiled at me. The smile that always melted my soul. Mom was beautiful. Her long red hairwas loose at her shoulders. Her forrest green eyes sparkled. I didn't umderstand how any man could leave a woman as beautiful as my mother.
"And how has my little middle schooler awaken?" mom asked.
"Pretty good. I'm so excited!" I could tell I didn't need to say I was excited. My face said it all.
"Well hurry and eat up, I have to get to work at nine."
I sat down at the table and began to eat while my mom made her morning coffee.
When I was done eating I went and took a shower and dressed up in my new burgundy Middle School 50 uniform. Mom walked in and smiled.
"You look a lot like your father." she said.
I was smiling up until that point.
"Why do you smile like that when you talk about him mom? He left us! How can you still love him?" I was truly outraged. Mom was too beautiful to love someone who didnt love her back.
Mom's smile turned into a frown.
"Andrew, you don't understand. He loves me. He loves you too. He just couldn't stay here. You have to understand."
"He doesnt love us, mom. If he did then he'd still be here."
Mom just turned away and walked into the living room.
"Come when you're ready", she called.
The drive to Brooklyn was long and in silence. We didn't say a word to eachother until I got out of the red Honda.
"Have a nice day at school, honey", mom said as she kissed me in the cheek. I felt guilty about yelling at her.
"Mom, I'm sorry I yelled at you."
She gave me a warm smile.
"It's alright, now go I'll pick you up at three." With that, she drove off toward the Williamsburg Bridge. I was left staring at a five story baige-brick building. Kids dressed in uniform entered it.
"Ok", I said to myself, "Here I go."
It didn't take long before I was in trouble. You see, when you enter the building, there is two stair ways on each side, which you are not supposed to use. I however did not now that. So I went up the stair way on the left and got yelled at by a fat security guard. She was really fat with blonde bangs and a black ponytail. Weird huh?
"You ain't 'posed to go up these stairs, young man!" She spat.
"Sorry, I didn't know. It's my first day." I said as innocently as possible.
" Well make sure it ain't happen again!" With that she turned and and went on her way.
I, being the mischevious person that I am, went up the stairs anyway. It led to a floor that was all white; the walls, the floor, everything. There was nobody in sight so I walked down the left wing of the hallway. Everything was so neat and clean. There were doors on eachside, but they were all vacant. Atlast the hall ended in front of a large white door that said, "Private. Keep Out!" A typical invitation for kids.
I reached out to open the door, but someone behind me stopped me. I turned around to see the fat security guard holding my arm.
"Didn't I tell you not to go up these stairs? You shall pay for disobeying me, half-blood!" Suddenly she changed. She turned into a part woman part bat-like creature. Her face was pretty much the same except now she had fangs. Her body was covered in matted gray fur. She had big black bat wings on her back. Her eyes glowed red. She looked like something out of a comic book.
"Prepare to die, for I will kill you here and now!" She screeched. She flew up to the ceiling and then dived and attacked me. She scratched my skin with her giant claws and it felt like I was on fire. Nonetheless I got up and tried to run, but she dove down a second time. This time she landed on my back and we rolled across the cold white-tiled floor. I managed to get her off of me, and got up, my arm still burning. I had no weapons. Nothing I could use to even hurt the monster. Then I remembered the necklace. It was made of some sort of bronze. It had a sun on it. I had had it since I was a baby. Now I know what you're thinking, What can a necklace do? But I didn't have any other option. The sun's rays on my necklace where sharp and pointy. I planned on sinking its edges into the monster's flesh. It was worth a shot. When she dove down a third time I took my necklace off and stabbed her in the eye. On contact she disintegrated into ash.
