Elements of Ire: Chapter 1

PRESENT DAY
"AAAAAHHHHHH!"
I was never going to forgive her for this. My mouth quivered in shock and disgust as I gazed upon it.
"If you don't want it, throw it out for all I care" said the annoying voice of my sister.
Here I was, looking fowards to a hearty breakfast, when it was all crushed by burnt food. Burnt eggs, burnt oatmeal toast. The only thing that remained edible was the milk.
"How can you serve people this stuff Alyssa?!" I demanded of her.
I shuddered. For when I gazed upon her front of me, she was eating the exact same thing as I was, but not as burnt as mine was.
"Hurry up will you? We're going to be late!" she retorted.
Well, at least she was right about one thing.
Ocotober the fifth, 2009. This Monday was to be my first ever day at the new school, East Gates High. The one where my sister happened to atttend. I didn't want to go where she was, but it either a fifteen minute walk or a six dollar train ride everyday.
I was thinking that I should eat the cookies from yesterday. To fill up my growling stomach. I heard Alyssa close the door behind her as she left. As for her badly cooked food... I grabbed the toast and the eggs.
In an instant, a small little wab of fire erupted from my hand and started to burn the burnt food.
Oh man, that was funny. Burned the burnt food.
The fire came as soon as it had gone. All that was left were small bits of ashes. I did my part to conserve the environment. I looked around the kitchen to see its still standing burnt parts, ever since that time.
I grabbed the cookies from the drawer and drank the milk. I grabbed my bag, and closed the door on my way out.

Without much of a thought for myself, I reluctantly followed the man to his "home". The man, called David Shurian, had found me out in the blue. The two of us were walking down a street filled with houses when a little girl came running towards the man.
"Daddy, daddy! The house! Its... its on fire!"
The girl was a pretty little thing. Even prettier than me. She had long silky black hair tied into pigtails, and wore a lovely blue frilly dress and matching shoes. The father, the formal black suit wear with a matching suitcase.
"Now Alyssa, don't joke-"
He stopped as soon as he noticed a thick black smoke coming from my left.
"What the..." he dropped his case and he abruptly ran. His daughter and I followed.
As I ran, I felt a mix of emotions coming and mushing around together inside me. For the first time in my life, I ran. Of course I did run many times before, but this time was different. I was able to run, without any difficulty, stiffness in my legs, or having to constantly being short of air after ten seconds. I felt more.. free.
The three of us reached the house, and I gasped. Half of this huge looking two story house was engulfed in flames. Even with the rain, the flame roared on. The man fell down on his knees and looked around with worry. His daughter, knelt beside him and fell into slight tears.
Perhaps it was because what I've been through that I decided to help them. Even though I've been abandoned by my real parents, forcibly thrown of the home, I felt touched by their situation.
I went up towards the blazing home, opened the still okay door, and went it. I ignored the shouts from David as I looked around to see what was going on.
The house was nice. It had a huge circular living room on my right, with huge glass windows all over. The middle, there was the foyer and the white stairs. The left, was the kitchen, the part that was engulfed in flames.
Facing the kitchen, I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I raised my arms. As I stood there, the flames started to move. They moved and eventually formed a circle around me.
It was warm, and harmless. It didn't mean to erupt and destroy, but wanted to shine and serve with a purpose.
To end this once and for all, I absorbed the fire within me. That bit of flame turned to power. Inside, I felt refreshed, full of this new part of me that wanted to live. I sighed in relief.
The fire was gone.
"What... what happened? Where'd the fire go?" said David's ever pale voice.
The two slowly crept in as I opened my eyes and turned to face them with a smile.
"Daddy, who is she?" asked five year old Alyssa.
Then came the most happiest moment of my life. David came towards me, knelt down and patted my head.
"She, Alyssa, is your new sister" he said with a smile back.

PRESENT DAY
"Please come in"
Said the voice of my homeroom teacher sharply. He was a tad bit annoyed by my late appearance to the class. The school front gate [yes, it had one] was about to close so I simply had to jump my way over. But unfortunately, it wasn't with many students watching from their rooms.
"As you all know, she's the one that flew over the gate this morning. Her name is Athna Shurian. Treat her well"
The entire class laughed as I went red in the face. If this wasn't school, I would've very much wanted to slap Mr. Johnson on the face.
Thus began my life on East Gates high, as a young and jovial senior.
