    Ch1
Throughout my life only one thing really mattered to me. When I was little I would always ask “mommy am I a witch” and the answer would always be of course not. Now thinking back on it, it was idiotic of me to ask such things when I already knew the answer. I was… am a witch but with so much more to it. Magical beings I thought once were only fairytales were real and the truth of it was every one of those magical beings were part of me. Stories of the other world trickled down to my mind. Mixing of different races was illegal but still I was made. Now of course everyone mixed but no one quite as much as me. Anything you can possibly think of from vamps to fairies was in my blood.
So ya only one thing mattered to me magic. When I entered middle school I got something all girls got urg….. my period. I remember that day so well it was Halloween and weird things kept happening to me. Number one got my period. Number two got asked out five count it five times which never ever happens. And number three I saw a dead woman. Ya I know Halloween is the day where people come back from the dead to see their loved ones but having no idea who or if I was even seeing her freaked the hell out of me. I was at my neighbor’s house and she was holding a séance. The Mckmyers always did some freaky thing for Halloween. This had been the first one Kaity had been able to dragged me to. She had been a good friend and we always had cool adventures like figuring out what really was in that creepy cave or who the boys were into. She was the skinny short energizer bunny wile I was the tall curvy masterminded.
“Hey Ellie its starting sit next to me” Kaity flagged me toward her.
I joined the large circle Kaity had set up in her living room and looked around. Kaity was their of course ever confidant sitting next to me. Their was also Eddie the ultra blond who played any sport he could think of, he was the the jock of the future, Geo the boy who Kaity secretly liked he seamed like a nice normal guy he had black hair and blue eyes and was always trying to do something nice, and Nichole the nice churchy girl with crappy parents she had long brown hair and brown eyes. Nichole already looked freaked out. Kaity coughed at the boys rambling once the quieted down she began.
“Under the red moon terror roams
Blood is thirsted and kingdoms torn
Sons are blessed wile daughters hide
Hear me now spirits of old
Come to us and teach us your wisdom!”
Everyone looked terrified even bad boy Eddie but nothing happened. Nichole who was on the left of me squeezed my hand. I looked at her she was so pale that for a moment I thought she died of freight but she turned her head toward me and screamed. I was so surprised by her scream I almost didn’t hear a loud breathing coming from behind my head. Almost. Something cold touched my neck I sat petrified. Pain surged through the cold spots and blood ran down my neck. Nichols eyes were wide with terror when I stared into them I didn’t like what I saw. A tall woman with flaming red hair and eyes was looming over me she seemed transparent; she wore a blue dress her hands were scratching at my neck. She started to lean down closer to my face that’s when I freaked. I don’t know if it was years of going to church or just plain fear that made me saw it but I started to pray.
“Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name,”
With the first line the ghost stopped moving. Nichols eyes as wide as ever reflected the ghostly image like a mior.

“Thy Kingdom Come, Thy Will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven.”
Voices started to intermingle with mine I heard the boys and Nicole who was now quivering.

“Give us this day, our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.”
I heard Kaity’s voice join and was surprised she knew it because she had never been to church in her whole life.

“ And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the Kingdom, and the Power, and the Glory, forever,”
I paused along with the others. I knew all our minds were thinking the same thing. What if it didn’t work?
    “Amen” we all chimed
When the whole prayer was finished I braved looking away from Nichol’s eyes. I slowly turned my legs then pivoted my hips. Fear filled me, every cell in my body screamed for me to stop to run away but I needed to know. My fingers crawled closer to the woman and helped me gain balance. I finally but slowly turned my head. The woman bent closer to me as she sent me a chilling smile. I swiveled back an inch. Her voice rattled through the air as she laughed.
“Who could have thought a little girl like you could save me?” the woman hissed
Her image was even more frightening than seeing her through a reflection. Her hair floated around her face. There was a spark in her eyes that reminded me of a fire in a dark cave. The woman brought her hand up to her mouth and licked the blood of her fingers. My blood, I started to feel dizzy. A gratifying smile lingered on her lips as she stared down at me. Her eyes bore into mine. And they started to flame. At first I thought it all had to be an illusion ghosts weren’t real. Eyes couldn’t catch on fire. Maybe it was Kaity’s trick and it was all a movie projection or something. Then how did it hurt me? My inner voice started screaming at me to run but I felt frozen to the floor. Fire was escaping her eyes and surrounded her face. I felt the warmth of the fire on my forehead. I wasted desperately to scream but no noise escaped my mouth. Her hair flew up in a burnt mess instantly. Soon her whole body was consumed in flame. Huge chunks of transparent flesh fell to the floor and evaporated when the fire was through with them. Finally there was no trace of the woman. But her laugh still ran through my mind. I felt my hand rise to my neck. When I pulled it away there was no blood. Finally I screamed. The group never talked about that night ever again but we saw the aftereffects of it. Me and Kaity the pair that used to be inseparable no longer talked to each other or even acknowledged the others presence. The boys Eddie and Geo turned into strong silent types and started doing everything in the school library. Worst of all Nichole committed suicide after her parents split apparently she jumped off a bridge but everyone knew her mom pushed her.
    * * * * *
Two years passed and it was my last year of middle school. With a group of new middle popular friends nothing like that Halloween night had accrued through the past years. I was grateful for that. Science had become my favorite subject because of Kurt. I don’t know why but we were attracted to each other like magnets. I didn’t like “like” him we were just like brother and sister. It felt like we had known each other our whole lives. Our friends would always try to get us to go out so we made up an excuse. We said that we were cousins they totally bought it and now we could do a lot more hanging out without the probing. On Fridays we usually went out for ice cream with our group but this time was different. The only ones who could make it were me and Kurt. When we arrived he went on about how he accidentally freaked this girl out when he ran to meet up with me.
“She ran to the other side of the street so fast when I ran up to meet you.” He said
I could see why he was a tall muscular guy and was wearing all black. He was pretty good looking he had a kind face if he shaved once in a wile you would see it more often. He has cool grey eyes that would change to green randomly. I loved his hair it was dark brown and always looked different.
“You shouldn’t go around scaring like girls” I laughed
“Ya well what about you am I scary to you?”
    “of course no-“
I was cut off by a loud ringing noise.
“Sorry that’s me” he fumbled for his phone ““Shelby” he mouthed
It was his girlfriend. I didn’t really hear what she was saying and was glad I couldn’t. Shelby was a real b***h of a girlfriend who always cheated on Kurt when he was a really nice guy. She didn’t deserve him. There was yelling on the phone and it was fallowed by a huge crushing noise. I jumped and quickly looked over at Kurt. The glass of coke he was holding was smashed in his hand. Blood started poring down his arm onto the table I quickly reached over
“Kurt oh my God are you ok?”
When I unwrapped his fingers the blood flow had stopped there wasn’t even a cut on his hand. Tiny shards of glass fell from his hand yelling started up on his cell phone again and he closed it.
