• CHAPTER 12: GOODBYE, RAUEL

One should be able to control their hatred for, let's say, a Werewolf. It doesn't matter who the Werewolf was or why they hated them. It doesn't matter how much one would like to kill them, but what if one does end up killing them?

Rauel smirked down at me, hopefully jokingly, but his eyes said "MUST KILL NOW". He lifted me up by the collar of my shirt again, then tossed me down. The pain had mostly subsided until then. If being thrown onto hard ground wasn't bad enough for my broken wrist, then I was screwed. Rauel lifted his foot high, then stomped down on my broken wrist and I screamed, "Eichi!!" The cleats on the bottom of his shoe gave my broken wrist a deep gash, and it was bleeding badly. Oh, if only I weren't dying right now...

I expected Eichi to show up any minute, but my hopes and dreams faded after about five minutes. Rauel sinisterly sneered, "Stupid girl. Vincent has killed your stupid boyfriend." But as soon as he said that, a blood-soaked boy came into the cave. After he got eerily close to me, I realized only one person could be as beautiful as the one standing before me; Eichi.

"E-Eichi... I..." I stammered, feeling a wave of nausea crash into me as I smelled the blood on him. He shushed me and kissed my cheek, growling at Rauel. He shouted colorful, profound words at Rauel before he attacked him. I didn't watch, but judging by what I heard, Eichi had killed Rauel. I finally looked, and I was horribley wrong.

Somehow, all of the blood that had been on Eichi was now on Rauel. Eichi was glaring and growling at Rauel, and vice versa. They seemed to have known each other from before because I didn't see as much of a conflict between them than I would have if they probably hadn't known each other.

I heard some teeth-gnashing and blood spurting, so I shut my eyes tight. Everything went silent, and I opened my eyes, only to see Eichi right in front of me. His face had splotches of blood, and he had a scar going down his cheek. I backed further into the cave wall, scared of him. But I realized again that Rauel wasn't dead. He creeped behind Eichi with his dagger-like nails in claw position, ready to stab and kill. I screamed, pushed Eichi out of the way, and slapped Rauel out of reflexes. He stumbled backwards, obviously stunned. Then his eyes locked on me and he ran straight for me, buti sidestepped him easily. He collided with the cave wall and I kicked him in the shin, probably doing more damage to myself than him.

Eichi butted in and bit Rauel deeply in the neck. Rauel howled, then fell limp under Eichi's fangs. Eichi released Rauel's lifeless carcass, looking sadly at me. His eyes were full of pain, but mine were full of relief. "Ayu, I... I... I can't... I... I'm sorry..." He stumbled over his words, probably searching for the correct term. I shook my head and said, "No, no, no, it's fine," although it wasn't. I shouldn't have seen his violent Vampire side. I wouldn't have if Takuto and Wakoji wouldn't have left me. But I did see his violent Vampire side. And he saw my angry side. My pissed off side.

"No, it's not," he argued, gluing me closer to him. I smelled blood onhim, although there was barely any. I pulled away and hacked on the floor, but I resumed exactly how it was before I vomited. I smiled, despite how horrible my breath probably smelled, and Eichi smashed his lips against mine. He whispered softly, "Hang tight and close your eyes," I did as he said and as soon as I opened my eyes, we were in the living room, right next to Takuto and Wakoji.

I pulled away and toppled over, on top of Takuto. His eyes abruptly turned blood red, and he bared his fangs at me, hissing and growling as he lowered his mouth to my neck with Wakoji and Eichi just watching in the background. I thrashed around, but found it hard to stand. My broken wrist, the left one, couldn't move. Takuto squeezed it as he bore his fangs into my neck. Wakoji tried to pry him off me and Eichi shouted colorful words at Takuto, but my blood dripped down his throat.

I knew what would happen. He'd get carried away.

I just... I just knew it. I suddenly felt dizzy, tired, and nauseaous.

But by the time I felt those three things, Takuto had already gained half of his immortality. I screamed and Wakoji finally heaved him off me. The excess blood from my fresh wound was getting on the couch. Eichi brought me to the bathroom and washed it out, talking bad about his older brother. He applied Neosporin, and then a bandage.

"Th-Thanks, Eichi..." I barely whispered, wrapping my arms tightly around his neck. He pressed his lips to my cheek as they curled into a coy smile. I looked over at him and studied his scar. But I didn't have much time; I was tired.

"You're welcome, Ayu, I--" I didn't get to hear the rest of what he had to say, no matter how important it was; I fell asleep, in such a light sleep, even the slightest nudge would wake me up easily.
