A man ran into the plains in Colorado. He held a contraption that was a large wedge that’s bottom could be made bigger. He got to an abandoned property with a small shack. The previous owner must have traveled away many years ago. The man was insane and wanted to destroy the earth with him. He thought of a way to start.
If there were a fault line deep, not big, but deep enough a rift would open and let antimatter into the world. When antimatter collides with matter it explodes. His contraption would make one. He jabbed the contraption into the earth and turned a knob that made the machine longer. Then he made it spread out. Finally he started to widen it.
After 2 days of switching from wide, deep, and long, he had made a huge fault line, but not big enough. Then he heard police; they must have picked up the high electron signals. Unfortunately, he didn’t know whether that was his machine, or the rift opening. He had to pick it up another time. When the police arrived, there was no sign of him but he left his invention. The police destroyed it, unknowing that it could undo its effects. 5 years later when an earthquake happened, the fault line started to shudder.

Chapter one
The earthquake shook the old shack and knocked everything off the walls. 2 boys and a girl stepped out from a trapdoor. They were orphans, however they were not helpless. They had found a hideout 4 years ago under the shack that provided room for equipment, beds, and good food. There was a town two miles away where they had to steal anything they needed to get anything. They didn’t steal unless they needed it. They also had made a source of power, stole a broken laptop, and fixed it.
The 13-year-old boy was named Keith. He had black hair, green eyes and was well educated. He had some trouble interacting with people, but had a way of manipulating. He usually used the computer the most to find anything they might be able to use. The 12-year-old girl was Alia. She had blondish-brown hair, brown eyes, and was probably smarter than Keith but only used knowledge if she had to. She was the mastermind in the raids. The 10-year old boy was called Peter. He had blonde with blue eye and had an annoying sense of humor. He usually pulled off the raids when they appeared.
“What the heck was that?” said Peter. “It probably was an earthquake. We are right next to the fault line outside. For all we know, that might’ve been only a 4.0 earthquake,” Alia said. “I don’t get it! That opening doesn’t even go down that far, percentage-wise,” Peter said haughtily. “ I don’t know. I guess that the earth crumbles a lot where the fault line ends. Come on; lets get this stuff cleaned up,” Keith said, while he picked up some tools.
“Before the quake, I was looking on the internet. The town has a metal base of a contraption in city hall. Its shape is customizable in all dimensions. Alia and Peter nodded. They were afraid the hideout was slightly unstable. They wanted to make sure that it wouldn’t cave in. If they got this, they could put cloth around it and make the room more square. They could even make the cave bigger. “Its completely unguarded except by the public. If we need it later, it won’t be there. They’re giving it to the state in a week so they can see what it was used for. Should we go after it?”
“I don’t like it, they probably have something like a protective box or something. It’s just that if the government wants it, it must be important,” Alia said. “Whatever it is, I think it might be useful; maybe throwing dirt from the other side of the room and no one knowing who it is,” Peter joked. “Then I’ll know just who to get back at,” Alia said back. “If the state wants it, its probably useful. We can use it for a lot more necessary things, Peter. Like getting things in our raids easier,” emphasized Keith. “Are we all in?”
They nodded and started to devise a plan. They found it was in a protective case but they left one thing out, the handle. If they could make the wedge big enough, it would break the metal case. Alia and Keith would get in through the back door and Peter would distract the public with his “hilarious” practical jokes. When they got to the town, Peter started while Alia and Keith got inside.
When they located the gadget no one was watching so they got to work. They started attaching a wheel while they heard comments outside such as “Would you shut up”, “Oh my gosh, you are so annoying”, and “Ugghh, retard”. Keith had designed a way to switch the dimensions of the contraption. She set it up and started using it to push against the walls. “What are you doing that's enough,” said Keith. “I just want to have some fun,” Alia said, as there was a huge boom. The metal box flew out of the door and hit the wall. “That was smart. Let’s get out of here,” Keith said sarcastically.
Then they saw something on the way out. The machine had a tracker on it. “Oh great,” said Peter as he came in, “Why don’t we put the tracker in that old guy’s house, or we can take the box.” “We can’t leave it somewhere, they’ll get our fingerprints,” said Keith. Then Sirens burst out. “Alia, give the tracker to me, I got an idea. Lets go” They nodded as they ran back to the shed. They all had a lot of practice running for 3 miles. The police didn’t see and they were going slow. It was still exhausting, though.
When they got to the shed, Keith threw the tracker into the fault line. They went into the shed, Alia and Peter got into the secret room and Keith put a carpet over the trapdoor as he jumped in. The police searched the shack but found nothing. “It was a trap. At least we got what we came for.” Alia said as she reached for the latch and climbed to get the lamp. Then another earthquake happened. They didn’t recognize it but the first bit of antimatter spurted out but was slowed by the tracker. Corruption was due to start soon.
