Chapter Three
You're Kidding Me, Right?
Genevieve still stood there, glaring at this boy. "Are you new or just dead in the head?" she asked him. Why would he willingly sit by her, the outcast of the entire high school?
"I am new," he confirmed, looking upwards at her with cold brown eyes. Genevieve hears a hint of sarcasm in his tone. Like she was supposed to know that?
"Okay then, let me do you a little favor. Go ahead and hate me now becuase everyone does. And you are seriously gonna hurt your chances at surviving at this school if you hang around me. So go over there and hang with the scenes and the plastics if you want to make it here." As she said that she gestured to the group of giggling and tittering girls with their big hunky boy toys across the large room.
He gave her the most curious of looks, "Thanks for the advice," he said cooly, "but I'd like to give everyone a fair chance here, now that I'm new."
Yup, dead in the head, Genevieve thought to herself. Clearly she wasn't winning this battle, so she sat down next to him with a reluctant sigh. When he pulled out his sketchbook, she reached in her bag and pulled out her own. From the corner of her eyes, she saw the detailed sketches and drawings that he had drawn.
"Holy cheese you're good," she said stupidly. She couldn't believe that she had just exclaimed something so dumb. She opened hers to look at the little doodles she drew mainly when she was bored. Sure they were cute, but they were no where near as good as his. Thinking about it, she didn't even know his name...
"Well you're pretty good too... I'm sorry what was your name again miss?" he asked as if he read her mind.
"Oh, I'm Genevieve. What's your name?" she asked, somewhat surprised that he would even ask that. All of the other students wished they didn't know her name. And now this guy asking for it?
"Aaron," he said simply.
"Aaron..." she repeated. "It's nice to meet you Aaron, but seriously, your life would be so much easier for you if you weren't seen with me." She said as she began to scratch another doodle in her art book.
"And why is that?" he asked. Moving his eyes from his papers to gaze on her.
"Because everyone here hates me," she quietly admitted, slowing her pencil strokes from embarrassment and shame.
"Why?"
"Because I'm different," she tucked her red hair behind her ear, "Isn't that obvious?"
"I didn't notice anything," he said and shrugged, tucking his own mahogany brown hair behind his ear.
Genevieve could feel the heat rising in her face. W-what did he just say? Thankfully at that moment, the plump art teacher walked in before she could say anything else that would make her look stupid.
