• He watched the many colours in the sky fade as the sun went down over the hills that surrounded him and he silently wished he was anywhere but here. Darkness descended upon him and he felt a shiver run down his spine as he realised that HE was probably only moments away. HE was known by many names, all terrible and all feared. Most people called HIM the darkness because he was never seen. He looked around nervously, waiting for the icy voice to whisper in his ear and chill him to the core. When it came he was prepared, but that only just stopped him from screaming and running away.
"You have come to get the list I presume?" the voice went right through him like nails being scraped acroos a blackboard.
"Y-y-yes," he stammered suprised by is own lack of courage.
"Don't worry, better than you have tried and failed to stand up to me" the voice said in a mocking tone. It was almost as if HE could see deep inside his very soul. The thought disturbed him greatly but he tried not to show it. "Anyway here's the list. I expect them to be at the gates at dusk tomorrow, or else." HE said handing over a rolled up piece of parchment. Then the darkness was gone as quickly as he'd come. He sighed with relief and was suprised to find he'd been holding his breath. He waited for what seemed like hours waiting for something more to happen but nothing did. His horse snickered and he remembered that he had to get the letter back to the king. So he climbed onto his horse and rode off into the night.
