• My Fantasy Chapter 1: Prologue

Ledge grumbled as the matron once again called for the children to come back inside the orphanage. She sighed while closing her book and stood up from underneath the large shaded tree, wiping away any dirt that clung to her skirt. 'Why does an orphanage have a dress code anyway, it's not like we're a school. Its the 22nd century godammit!' Ledge then slowly ran towards the looming building that was her home as well as her prison.

Rosemire Orphanage, one of the lesser known orphanages that is found in the city of Rosemire. Though the orphanage has enough money to give the children their basic needs; mainly food, clothing and education. There isn't exactly much that they could provide, that means that nature was their playground and books were their entertainment, not that many of the children like to read, mind you. They'd rather play around than read the books in the library.

"There you are." Said the matron once she reached the doors. "It's best to be ready, the potential parents are coming in." Ledge heard one last disapproving tut before another child came barreling through the door like a cannon, it was too late to move away; not that there's much space to move in the small hallway in the first place. "Oomph" Ledge fell as she twisted to hold the small child and braced for impact.

"I'm sorry." Said the small boy. Terran, age 5 and has been a resident since the matron first found him outside the doors at a few weeks of age. "It's alright." Ledge hissed through clenched teeth, what are they feeding him! "You're heavy." she shoved him off and stood up unsteadily. "Don't run through the door, I could have broken something."

"I'm sorry." The boy said again, looking at the floor chastised. Ledge sighed and said "C'mon, the adults are coming." Terrance looked up "Do you think i'll be adopted?" Ledge shook her head and shrugged. "I don't know, I've been here for years now."

"Oh right, you're old." Terran teased and Ledge faked a gasp. "Of course, because fourteen is the age of being an official senior citizen." "Uh huh" grinned Terran, showing his two missing front teeth.

"Well then, go find kids your own age and play." Ledge said while softly pushing the boy. "Okay, bye!" He said and ran towards the common room. "I said don't run!" She reminded him but only got giggles in return.

She sighed again and slowly trudge towards her room. The older one's got their own room, usually at sixteen. Her roommate Sarah was probably off again, looking for boys or sneaking off to meet them as their orphanage was close to a dormitory of an all boys school. She laid down on her bed and lifted the book she was holding. 'Fantasy World' by Harin Donovan. She felt her heart clench, she knew her heart was thirsting for adventure. She wasn't meant for this normal life but what can she do. So she let her mind drift off, to places with creatures of myth and legend.

Ledge heard the matron gather the children for the potential adopters to gawk at a few minutes later, but she decided not to go. She knew they wouldn't pick her, she was already fourteen and couples tend to gravitate towards a baby or a toddler, not a teenager. And the matron knows that so she doesn't try to get her to come, only telling her encase Ledge might decide to come.

Next morning Ledge found herself walking towards the forest that was situated behind the orphanage. She delved deeper into the forest and found herself in a small familiar clearing with a little pond, she tends to visit the place every now and then. It became her secret place once she stumbled across the clearing a few years back to escape one of the orphanages many bullies.

So she sat beside the pond and pondered 'What am I going to do with my life?' she didn't know what to do, considering she wasn't overtly smart nor is she model material. She was still too young to think about the her future. She considered her options, and found there weren't much considering she only attended the community's public school and while she hoped she could land a scholarship in one of the better colleges, she didn't exactly know what to choose, so she just sat there and brooded.

And then something happened, something blue flashed. She looked up, the pond was... No it's something else, it's in the pond. She perked up and slowly leaned over, her hands grasping at the edges. There, shown clearly on the bottom of the pond was a stone glowing a bright blue. She slowly dipped her hand into the pond and grasped the stone tightly, she straightened and examined the stone.

It was beautiful, blue with little silver symbols that glowed brightly. 'The Wishing Stone.'
