Monotony
Long silver eyelashes twitched as the man stirred from his slumber. He was awake but the thought of living filled his chest with a faint feeling of emptiness. His subconsciousness was filled with the whispers of his children, the 'living'.
The King sat up and peered around the vast expense of his bed, he stood then went about his daily routines like clockwork.
The sun was already high up by the time he was done eating his breakfast. He took hold of his staff and set out to visit his children, he passed the forest, his fingers grazing the bark of the trees all the while the trees wave their branches in turn as their 'father' passed by. The Kings boots hardly make any sound as he passed the wide field of grass, he stared as the nearest village came into view.
The villagers ignored him, as if he were not a part of them. His silver hair was like a shining beacon, and yet, no one seems to see him. He stops by a blind beggar, he knelt down and took the rough calloused hands into his, the blind man looked directly into his eyes, he smiled before he slowly stood up and walked away.
The beggar blinked before his gaze followed the King as he turned around a corner. A shout was heard before he was suddenly taken into warmth, the beggar was confused until he heard the teary familiar voice of his son. "Papa! Papa..."
The King smiled from a distance and continued his trek. He has a soft spot for the people who can 'see' him, they were precious. It was some time later that he noticed the sun was starting to set, so he started his journey back to his home.
It was dark and his path was lit by the light of the full moon, the moonlight danced on his skin. He smiled and laughed, his deep blue eyes twinkling as he started his ritual, his age old dance, of Life. The moonlight bent and shaped into a mist of a girl, her tinkling laugh was heard throughout the forest. Wildlife was silent, until suddenly they all joyously celebrated the birth of another brethren, the birds twittering on their branch, wolves howl and many of the living scatter about in glee.
"Lelune" The King whispered and the misty girl smiled in a fond manner as the King took her into his arms and danced beneath the trees.
Yes, the King thought. While living seems to be a tiresome thing for a man such as he, he will always take great pleasures in those he created and loved. He treasures his children, and he will always be there to guide them, like any parent would.
AN: This is a Oneshot. And he is also immortal, and immortals would have to hate living after centuries and centuries of being alive.
