It was cold outside. There was a damp feeling in the air and the world seemed still. Laid out underneath stars, watching the harmless dark clouds that could be seen floating by, was a young girl. Carmen Viola. Her eyes were closed and she was laying still as the air was around her. The grass was cool and wet, but it didn't seem to bug her. She had an odd smile on her face and her arms were folded across her stomach. She looked almost dead. Her eyes opened and she sat up, looking around quickly. There was a lot going through her mind at that point in time, but nothing like what would be going through her head later on.
Noticing the night sky, Carmen stood up and began walking away from where she had been laying down. There was a wet spot traveling at random areas down her back to her legs, "Mom will be worried," she said to herself out loud. There was no one around her to hear her talking to herself, but she wouldn't have cared even if someone was there. So, she began her long walk back to her house. She could hear her mother's voice inside her head, scolding her for being out so late, 'Carmen, a young girl like you should not be out so late by herself! You're only sixteen years old, girl! Wake up and smell that damn paint and get your a** inside at a good time.' She cracked a smile, then a soft giggle. She raised her left hand to her face, brushing her long blond hair out of her face.
The smile faded though.
Carmen heard the squeal of tires and a piercing sound she would never be able to describe again. She averted her attention from in front of her to her left and saw a car coming, "Why is it going so fast?" Her pale, green eyes opened wide when she saw the window roll down, then the noticed the license plate. 2FANSU. She turned to hide behind a tree, but she had already been seen. And that's when she heard the piercing sound again. A loud bang. An explosion? No. She looked down when she felt something warm on her stomach and back. She touched her stomach with her hand and began to tremble, hearing the car in the background squealing away.
Carmen had been shot. Twice. She fell to her knees, feeling suddenly fatigue, "Mom.." She slumped forward on to the ground and felt hot tears begin to stain places on her face she couldn't place. Her vision was clouded and her mind had relaxed, 'I never thought this would be how I died. To none of other than the hands of them. I'm so sorry, Mom, that I didn't tell you the truth.' She grumbled and groaned and suddenly heard a scream. Was it someone screaming? She rolled on to her back to see if someone was there. She saw a woman, looked as old as her mom, which wasn't that old. The woman pulled out something and ran towards her. Then an overwhelming blackness swarmed over Carmen and she passed out.

This is only the prologue to a story that has sitting in the back of my head since the beginning of September. I always knew how the ending of the prologue would go, but I could never figure out how to start it. Something inspired me today to finally get it out when I was in one of my classes so I'm interested in continuing it and everything. The only thing that will help me decide whether or not I continue it.
