• Chapter 1
    ~*~*~*~*
    A Thousand Times Goodnight…

The entire world goes silent as soon as the shots are fired… The pouring rain is now silent to all ears. Suddenly all we can hear are the cries of a lonely and frightened child at the side of the road. She sits, watching the silent crowd with terrified eyes.
I stand nearest the event. I watch the rain pour onto the pale, cold bodies of the lifeless northern side of the crowd. My eyes are hollow… My breathing dies as the warm blood mixed with the ice cold rain flows over the heels of my shoes and the bottom of my dress… Every member of the aristocracy around me smiles… this event fills them with joy… Many people are drawn into the street for this event of infamy.
My eyes regain their life, shining a brighter blue than ever as an image suddenly goes through my head. It hits me hard enough to knock the wind out of me, but fills my heart with joy.
One last assassination will take place here today,
As the carolers -- a sick lot of people -- begin singing "Angels We Have Heard On High" on the curb near the bodies, a smile slowly forms upon my lips.
Maybe it’ll all finally end… I think. For the love of God, I hope so…
Just as I think this, the shot is fired... What I hope to be the winning shot in this hellish game…
Then I realize my white trench-coat is splotched with red. The woman that was once standing next to me is now laying on the ground… her body twitching as the last moments of life she has drain from her body, the hole in her head showing in plain sight. Her family huddles around her as I look toward the direction of the gunshot. Holding the gun, I see that man from my vision… The one prophesied as the victim… The one who caused this. My mind rushes through thousands of thought at once.
How could he be the killer…?! The woman wasn’t even---!!
Suddenly he jumps and lands directly in front of me, leaning forward to be at eye-level with me.“What makes you think... that a girl like yourself can foresee such an event as this…?”

“…!!” I’m caught off guard, unable to move away…
“How could you possibly think…” his bitter-sweet voice drips over my ear and refuses to remove itself… burning like a white-hot ember. Rage pulses through my veins as he speaks to me. I regain my composure and jumps back, letting my high-heel shoes fall off.. They’d surely make this impossible. I land on the sidewalk across the road in a stance unfitting for my current apparel.
    I finally have my chance…
The world will no longer have to suffer with this man…
“Age matters not in this case, Sir. I believe you’re mistake on that note,” I explain. The other members of the aristocracy have escaped at this point… I’m sure to get many looks of disgust when I return home.
The man scoffs at my remark.
“Your stance makes you look quite unbecoming, Dear. Regain you proper composure,” he says with a laugh of mimicry. I stand in a proper stance and lunge at the man without thinking.
My attempt proves useless. As I approach him, he moves far faster. He removes a magnificent blade from its sheath on his belt, stabs it into one of the bodies and disappears with it.
When he disappears from my sight, my composure, once again, escapes me. I catch myself on the wall he was once against and look around urgently for him… He’s gone.
My shoulders tremble and I fall to my knees… I was so close… Now he’s gone… I run my fist swiftly into the pavement, leaving a blood stain on the pavement and a broken wrist to take home…
I sit for hours until the sun goes down and the bodies have been disposed of… around eight o’clock at night, my older brother comes by to see me sleeping by the wall… he carries me home and puts me into bed… I’ll never forget this night….
