Golden bird with broken wings
Trapped in a cage
Spirit unbound but never to be free
Golden bird, wings clipped by forces unseen
I heard your song and came to see
Caught by the melody, calmed by the spirit
Unable to leave, I befriended the
Golden bird with song so sweet
You sang to me in my hour of need
Kept me sane, healed my pain
Helped me find what I couldn't see
My own set of wings, with them to be free
Golden bird, with love in your heart
You sing to me, pick me off my feet
Never fear but never near
Give me faith to do my part
Golden bird with beak now bound
Held tight by the hand that feeds
Never to fall never to want
But never to be free
Never will you be with me
Golden bird with dreams undone
Locked in your cage, my hope all but gone
Sing your song for all to hear
Return to the skies where you belong
Golden bird that I can't see
Sing me your song or set me free

Lovely job. I wish I could say more, but my brain's kinda dying already tonight... But, I will point out, at the end of the second stanza, I think you meant "thee" rather than "the."
Still enjoyed reading it, though. ^^ I've got a vaguely similar poem, but yours has more to it. - Report As Spam

- That's an excellent poem. It has a wonderful story that is full of meaning but simplicity

I wasn't aware you were such an accomplished poet. Your rp's, of course, but this is wonderful. Just full of surprises, aren't we now.
Truly though, excellent piece to be interpreted in so many ways. - Report As Spam

- So sad. Why are you so sad to write something so full of pain and longing. Yet you pour your heart out into this sweet sensual poem. Calling out for a lost love. Very good, but still so very emotional and sad.
