• The howl emerges from the forest,
The bats take flight with a screech.
The flames erupt and the rodents flee,
The wolves escape long after their warning howl,
As the insects stop far way,
As they all watch their homes,
    Burn to the ground,
Leaving just the ashes of slower friends and family, and a way of life.
    The human fifty yards away,
    Smiles at his work.
He erects a sign and walks away,
Happy that road work begins Tuesday.
