Why do rivers weep?
Is it because they're sad?
Is it because they're longing for
The life they used to have?
Do they cry because they're angry?
Do they grudge against our ways?
Are rivers' tears brimmed with rage
Adversing trash that turns them gray?
Do rivers sob because they're lonely?
Are they in need of faithful friends?
Do they wish to have another stream
Run with them to the end?
Although these reasons could be true,
Their tears are not of sorrow.
The rivers cry because they're happy
Cherishing the paths they follow.
So if you see a river weep,
Think not that it is mourning.
It's simply grateful for the chance
To bask in each day's glory.
