As I stand upon the miserable stone reminder,
A bitter frost touches my flesh
But I'm still here,
And I won't leave your side.
I will come every day
Because you are my ancestor,
My mother's father.
I never really met you.
I don't really know you,
So I'm still here
Trying to find whatever link exists
Between you and me.
Around me, I see fences of steel.
I see hills of white,
I see no one else around
In this city of frightening gray marble,
And I'm still here.
I hear you in my dreams.
I see you in the cold day,
And I'm still here.
I will be or eternity
Or until you tell me what I need to know.
