The rain patters down on the hesitant leaves,
As the trees glare down with open hostility.
The moon watches from above, smiling, yet oblivious.
Footfalls echo loudly through the silence,
Yet the forest pays no heed to it.
A flurry of predator and prey alike storm past,
Fleeing something hidden, something unknown.
The winds growls wildly as a flare of light comes from the north,
And sudden heat blisters the cold atmosphere;
And yet the ancient trees stand.
Shouts come now, deformed noises.
With an exclamation, an owl's courage fails.
The trees stay true though, for they are the forest,
Yet they must wait for the onslaught.
Raucous noises shake the bubble of silence;
And they come.
Hundreds of two-legged creatures march through the haven,
The bright-beast-that-bits-hot held high in their hands.
The now angry trees groan as the beasts attack,
Brothers and sisters falling everywhere as a lone wolf howls,
But still the trees stand true.
Nothing can stop the forest, not even two-legs.

Description:
i wrote this poem at school a while i ago, and i thought i'd see what you guys think of it ^-^
its a narrative poem about the forest and humans, basically; and the bright-beast-that-bites-hot is a weird way of saying fire, as well as two-legs for humans :p - Date: 10/22/2008
