• The serene vessel with the screaming insects

    Pushing through the frostine waves,
    It sailed serenely on.
    Gently it floats upon
    The softly brushing water
The huge old vessel moves along.

    Gentle Tap,
    For it at least
    Those of metal
    Would tend to
    Disagree.

    The vessel watched
    As the impatient young
    Forced forward, then
In a last measure of pride,
    It reared up.

    The insects were scurrying,
    Jumping to smaller groups,
    Splinters on the sea’s skin.
The old vessel heard two blasts
    From the metal’s back.
    More insects fell, already crushed.
The splitters embedded themselves deeper into the sea
Still there were more insects on the metal
The vessel hummed to their chirping.

    And as the metal disappeared,
    And thousands of insects screamed,
The great, old vessel, sailed serenely on.
