• I once had none
    Life was bad
She came along and made me happy
    We became friends at first
As we spoke I felt closer
    She became my best friend
    We talked and talked,
Who knew I could be so happy?
As time passed my appreciation for her grew
But along with it came something else
My heart cried out in joy and beat ever faster
Every time I spoke to her everything that was bothering seemed to go away
A smile that had not been there jumped onto my face
All this was due to her
    My best friend
She became the sun on gloomy days
She became the moon and the stars in the night
My love for her grew ever more
I confessed and learned something that broke my heart and soul
Her feelings were not the same
What remained of me worked hard to keep alive and plan its next move
The scars would remain as a reminder of love’s dangerous embrace
I may like others here and there
But my love remains with only one
    My Best Friend
