• I heard the horn’s blow fill the skies
The hawks’ and ravens’ ever shrill cries
The dragons woke from their silken beds,
To protect this land of ours from dread.

    They spread their wings’
    With breaths of fire and all;
Alert, and landed down our fortress—
    The Great Wall
Their sharp eyes guarding all rivers and hills
    For the battle upcoming
    Against the northern Beasts.

    I looked upon the horizon
In my eyes I see men riding monstrous beasts
It anchors the heart; it angers the soul
To see their beastly eyes look upon our land
With such greed for a feast.

Gunshots and roars my ears did hear
    The battle began with blankets of fear;
    Of love and honor,
    Of conquer and defeat.

    Seeing corpses and smelling blood
Tasting defeat from the enemy’s sword
From all of this I can’t resist
Help my warriors, this be my word

I’ll fight the Beasts, protect thee lands
    Which where I grew
I felt the sword between my hands
Thus I’ll fight brave and true.

    The swords did fiercely crash
    Between the Dragons and Beasts
As the rain poured and thunders clashed
I know it’s time to witness defeat.

I stabbed the Beast; it cold hear bled
And time the leaderless enemies fell
    The Dragon’s fire banished
    The Northern Beasts
Yet their noble claws held my cold,
    Bleeding hands

Yet I know that China’s ours
Even though it’s not anymore in my sight
I may not speak yet our hearts
    Choir as one,
    “Victory is ours!"
