The stone dead ringing in my skull
Starts to send my warmth astray
And brings my sleepy heart a feeling
That it's a rather dismal day
And makes the day so dull
When I thought my life was full.
I hear my hope begin its peeling
At the birth of my dismal day.
A buzzing starts to awaken inside me
In a supremely similar way
As a bird rises from its nest
On a not so dismal day.
Like an imperial decree,
I somehow break free
From the black heart that beats in my chest
On this oh so dismal day.
Melodic music to my ears
On this rather dismal day
How it's bringing what I'm singing
As I sweep the gray away.
It frightens off my fears
And wipes away my tears
With its singsong voices ringing,
Is no more my dismal day.
In my blithe core the intonation
Hums and purrs, but it may
Never ever rid the mood
Of my very dismal day.
And no matter the sensation
'Twill follow one simple regulation
To return in a manner rather rude
Just like this dismal day.
Once again I hear the crying
On this devilishly dismal day
Of my throbbing aching figure
Here to keep the serenity at bay.
And I feel my energy dying
Which can only be implying
That my passing it does prefigure
At the close of my dismal day.
