There is a little meadow,
just along the way,
full of grass and marigolds,
where all the children play.
In this little meadow,
children laugh and sing,
about the world's great wonders
and all the happiness they bring.
This meadow is so lovely!
All green and gold and bright
And being in this meadow
is like being in God's light!
There are trees and flowers,
like nature's little hugs,
butterflies and roses,
and bitty beetle bugs!
It gives them a place to live,
A place to skip and dance,
and mostly most of all,
it gives their childhood a chance!
The meadow is so darling,
the meadow is so dear
to all the little children
oh, so far and near!
Yes, there is a little meadow,
just along the way,
full of grass and marigolds,
where all the children play!
They're paving it over for a parking lot tomorrow at noon.

- Wonderful message and I love the rhyming. I know it's horrible, but I always feel like I'm reading REAL poetry when it rhymes. I guess I was trained that way from a young age.

@Bindyblueeyes, It's not supposed to fit in with the rest. It's supposed to be that nothing can be kept untouched anymore, and that even though it's the most beautiful place, no one cares, they just want to make roads and parking lots and other industrial things.
Anyways, at you, Julia, you continue to impress me with your work. It does really put me into a mindset of what John Lennon (R.I.P., we will always love you!) would think of. Great job!

- this is really good. but i have a slight problem with the last line. it seems not to fit in well with the rest of the writing. though now that i think of it that is probably better. because paving over the park doesn't fit with the happiness the children have expierenced in their park. but i still love it

- It is saddening that such a magical meadow would be paved over =
