Bittersweet Friendship
"Laughing at your lies," he said in answer to my questioning expression.
Listen to your cries, I thought as I brooded in my descretion.
Joy is but a fairytale - that's something that I know.
But emotions are a danger; and one which I cannot show.
I smile as he passes
such bittersweet friendship...
If only it could be more
I try, but still I trip...
However, my own cousin did
Accuse me of a crime
Turning on me all I once held dear
In a small amount of time
I hid among the roses, for to show my face - I can't...
But I arrive just in time to hear his seething rant.
"I hate her!" he yelled in agony.
"She's not the girl I knew!
She desrves only to suffer."
And then I just withdrew.
A twig snapped and then he turned on me
His eyes were full of hate
He lashed out - I had no time to respond
I felt a pain to which nothing could relate
I smiled as he slapped me
ending our bittersweet friendship...
I couldn't move - my heart had died
And I awaited the next whip
I crumpled to the ground
clutching my burning face
"You hate me now..." I said silently,
then fled at an alarming pace.
I didn't look back, I couldn't again, for the pain was much too great.
I knew what had happened - and what he thought, but could not accept my fate.
I ran to the place behind the falls that he and I once shared...
From the shelf I grabbed a knife and knew he never cared
More pain as blood drippped from my finger tips
I knew that this was all
The end was near and outside I hear
The usual evening squall
I smiled as the blood oozed
Poor bittersweet friendship
I heard him scream but could not see...
My life began to slip
It's been four years but the pain hasn't eased
Though him I mean to save
Protection is the thing he needs -
A thing he always gave
Now I see he DID love me
Oh what a fool I've been.
That was the key - Now I am free
But now he must begin
to get over his grief and find relief in his newfound love
She was a thief, but her belief
brought her to rise above...
I smile though I'm invisible-
this bittersweet friendship-
I now see through his queer disguise
But his heart I still try to grip.

ANYWAYS... It's not based on anything real. Just a character that I have decided to name Kaia. (Yes, Arxy. I know. "Gigglesnort", "Teehee", and "Must be Monday.")
Hope you enjoy it. - Date: 12/29/2008
