Divided

We stand alone
Back pressed to back
As one
And yet divided
One person splits
And two arise
Through love
Through hate
United

We cannot join
Us two who split
For neither one
Is stronger
And both of us
Have the right
To live
Our lives
Unhindered

We must unite
To make a choice
One must become
The victor
So says the law
But can one live
With half
Of their heart
Broken?
