• I watched it dropped,
As it would fall to the floor,
And a sharp pain in my chest,
    Made me feel mentally sore.

    I looked down at it,
With no intention to pick it back up.
I simply shook my hand at it,
I just had simply given up.

I didn’t ever want it back
I never wanted to see it again
What had caused this to happen?
I didn’t want to think of it then.

    I watched as its liquids
Spread all over the cold, hard, floor,
    It throbbed and it pumped
Crumbling from its own inner core.

    I wanted to cry,
But I refused to show any tears.
I didn’t want to have it back
Not for the rest of my years.

    It throbbed again-
    And once more like so,
    It began to darken,
And started to lose its glow.

    I turned my head away,
    Like anyone should.
But a part of me said no,
    If only I could…

I heard it cry out to me,
As if it was still alive.
It wanted to be taken back,
It wanted to be back inside.

I shook my head and screamed:
“I never want the pain ever again!”
The THING seemed to whisper out,
    “All I need… is a mend.”

    I turned towards it again,
In the middle of my step.
    I had to hesitate.
I knew it should be kept.

    I took a step forward.
And it seemed to fade bright.
I took another step to it,
And I knew, then, it was right.

“But if I take you back-
I know it will all happen again.”
“Then you will do this all-
I can always have a mend.”

    I picked it back up,
And stared at it with a tear
    “I’ll give it another try…
But its pain, I will always fear.”

I felt it throb within me again.
As if it had never left.
    It was like starting over.
There was warmth back in my breath.

    I’ll give it another try…
And we’ll see how long it will last
Even though, I know what to expect…
But let’s just forget that old past.

    I smiled lightly,
    And took off to walk,
Maybe this time will be different.
Maybe I will find the one with the key to my lock.
