• It was almost too delightful for my own good,
    As she walked towards me,
    A beauteous flower in her hair as she understood,
    What, in fact, she could see;
    My fluttering heart as we gazed into each others’ eyes
    That we were both filled with glee.

    I was a knight and she was my princess,
    Our lives, far too different, anyone would agree
    Though I knew, about her terrible fate,
    Of which she could not be set free,
    For this palace’s laws are quite different,
    In which the princess would be sacrificed to the sea.

    I constantly assured her we would never be separated,
    Because of the love we shared, her and me
    And I promised to protect her regardless of anything,
    As her knight of chivalry.
    But as word reached the towns,
    Everyone would disagree.
    And at that, I looked at my princess and said, “Nay.
    I will never abandon thee.”

    The time came where the sacrifice was at hand,
    Her hand in mine, we stood there, by the sea
    Her father stepped in and drew his sword, as I drew mine
    And all he said as he looked at her was, “You are the key.”
    I lunged forward him, plotting my strike,
    But she…

    Her executioner being her father,
    Would not let a sword strike he,
    And my eyes followed as I watched my sword plunge thee
    Three steps back, as my eyes widened in horror, I fell
    And my darling smiled at me, as she fell into the sea

    When the stars shone, as everyone turned to stone,
    I limped closer to the sea;
    When her father stared and never even cared,
    I limped closer to the sea;
    And so, as the night continued, I laid down by her side,
    Of my life and my bride,
    In the sanctuary surrounded by the sea,
    In her tomb, where I shall be
