The petals fell,
in such a way,
thrown off the tree,
I watched it sway.
The petal crunched,
against the ground,
loud and ringing,
this silent sound.
No one noticed,
but me and my ears,
and no one will notice,
'cause no one else hears.
But the tree mourns it's loss,
to the changing of the season,
And I, too, feel sad,
against any rhyme or reason.
Another falls,
and again,
I watched in horror,
what happened then.
They all fell at once,
a great big heap.
gravity won,
with plenty to reap.
But the tree, tall and straight,
will never give in,
it will grow loyal leaves,
who will soon fall again.
