• As we sit beneath the tree
    High on a lonely hill
    We looked at each other
To me you were like a cover
Always protecting me day and night
I asked you to never leave my side
But you left it one day
    So I sat alone
There was no one there but me and the tree.

A year has passed and our tree is gone
    Yet somehow it magically spawned
It looked just like it, yet not quite right
    I wondered what happened
I sat beneath it as always
    But suddenly you came
    Gave me a wistful smile
    And whispered so quietly
    I could hardly hear
"This tree holds many secrets, my dear"

I pondered upon what he said
Then asked him the meaning of his words.
He had a little shovel in one hand
And a key in the other
He gave the key to me and dug beneath the tree
Below it was a little red box
    That radiated with warmth
I opened it with the key
And with a start I read the note
Which was the contents of the box.

'It must be very late since we've been here huh? I just didn't know when so I buried this here.
I wanted to say, I love you. This tree is not the same. It died and I planted a new one'
    I cried silently
    Waiting for words
The sadness and happiness I felt
    Could not be explained
He loved me as I did
And that was all I needed
