• The stars do so brightly shine
The moonlight glows on this night so fine
The cold air frosts the very breath
And the shadows fly on the wings of death

When all the spirits have yet gone
    When we discover it anon
When our forms the shadows sheath
When the shadows light does wreath

Between these frozen woods and distant lake
When the cold air steals my breath to take
A lengthened journey to far-off lands
To put my life in another’s hands

Lightning rays pierce the darkness deep
So they end my waking sleep
Wind and weather, frost and fire
    Stretching farther, ever higher
