-
We must hide in the shadows with no other.
Distress and dismay do not haunt me.
For soon we will be free.
No more hiding, no more restless sleep.
Free to walk the world with any other.
Free to be the people we want to be.
We will be free to leave the shadows and see the sun.
Free to see the moon, stars, and the oceans.
Free to gaze upon the earth in all its glory.
We will be free to show our faces to the world
And we will be free show them,
The greatness,
That comes from the shadows.
- Title: Shadow Children
- Artist: Hidate
- Description: This poem is about a time in my life where no one in my social group was accepted. Felling shunned because we were different, though this piece of poetry is meant to have a grander meaning in that it represents all discrimination as a whole, and the hopeful coming of a time where we will be freed of our hatred for one another.
