“Devil I Am”
The face is blank, emotion unrending, its blood thirsty gaze, with doom impending.
Hairs of red, heart of black, his piercing gaze making you all but crack.
A strong right arm making me alarm, though through his lips comes gentleman’s charm.
Like a scepter of wood, or a gentleman stalker, his sarcastic ways cause many a scoffer.
Yet mock as they may, their comments are lonely and shy, for all of their talk ceases as he walks by, the look of pure terror and death in his eye.
What’s in his past that creates him this way?
A rent coat, and torn sleeve tell his story.
His wish for a world without wrong, has turned him to the thing he’s hated for so long.
The vicious of a tiger, yet the guile of a fox, the eyes of nights thief, searching for the jewel’s box.
Careful caresses of the caring and dead, have raised him from the grave and let him live on instead.
The ghosts of the past, they shake in cold dread, as they realize this man is neither living nor dead.
The smell of the anger, the malice on breath, makes even bravest knights fear death.
Heart? heart!? he has no heart, the black hole in his chest, till death do them part.
“HA” he laughs, mocking world and man with it, for now that it’s dead, he knows that he’s killed it.
Realizing his fate, and the role along with it, yelling “Devil I am” as if for to sing it.
